About the role

Sitting within the Receivables Management team and reporting directly to the Collections Manager, the Commercial Collections Specialist is responsible for managing our commercial clients who require help with their loan repayments. You will negotiate payment terms and the best solution for financial well-being, putting the client central to everything we do. #customerfirst #strongertogether

What you will own and support:

  • Operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and client-centric culture 
  • Managing a commercial arrears portfolio (end to end) including low/medium/high-risk accounts and maintaining accurate records of activities
  • Making suitable arrangements and providing solutions to a broad range of SME clients as per our credit policy
  • Monitoring arrangements and using equitable judgement on deciding next steps, recommending legal action as appropriate
  • Handling matters concerning company liquidations, administrations etc
  • Monitoring financial hardship and loan variation registers
  • Managing internal ticket enquiries
  • Reporting status of the portfolio to Collections Manager and executing agreed collections strategies
  • Processing manual payments on behalf of our SME clients and performing allocations
  • Ad hoc account reconciliations 
  • Assisting and supporting Collections Manager as required
  • To help us level up, you'll bring:

  • 2 years minimum experience in Collections/Receivables Management
  • Experience in a high-volume environment handling commercial and consumer debts
  • Exposure to SME market segment (highly regarded)
  • Excellent personal and interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written – calm, balanced and client-centric approach
  • Conversant in Receivables Management lifecycle including litigation process, ASIC Debt Collection Guidelines and relevant regulatory Acts in the commercial space
  • Ability to effectively prioritise, manage deadlines and understand new ideas and concepts quickly
  • Self-motivated, proactive and goal-driven (outcome-focused)
  • Be comfortable working autonomously as well as in a team
  • Confidence to express ideas for improvement
  • Ability to understand business needs, consistently meet expectations and respond promptly and professionally to business requests or enquiries, seeking guidance as appropriate
  • Problem-solving, analytical, decision making and collaborative skills
  • Intermediate Excel and Microsoft package skills
