The Role
As the Director of Strategic Sourcing you will develop sourcing and procurement activities and execute a long-term strategy for Procurement services across the company. You will be responsible for implementing the best practices in global procurement and supplier management to support commercial and operational strategies.
 
This role will align with the Executive team to ensure suppliers remain focused, have scalability to support our changing requirements and identify opportunities where we could move our relationships into a strategic partnership.

What you will be doing

  • Build a world class strategic purchasing/procurement function in line with Megaport’s overall business goals.
  • Develop and execute a long-term strategy to facilitate improvements for Procurement Services across the company.
  • Develop sourcing and procurement activities that support strategic business objectives and maintain strong working relationships with strategic suppliers to assure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met.
  • Ensure the execution of procurement strategies across the company to ensure consistent and high quality.
  • Ensure the execution of standards, controls, policies, procedures, and performance metrics to efficiently manage the acquisition and reporting of third-party spend across the company.
  • Conduct business review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future strategies, and identify potential cost down and improvement opportunities.
  • Manage recruiting, training, and supervising a global team.
  • Oversee the development and execution of sourcing strategies across all groups including targets, timelines, and resource plans.
  • Build market intelligence capabilities within the team on key markets, suppliers, and solutions to support strategy development purposes.
  • Analyse market and delivery trends to develop procurement technologies and processes that support those trends.
  • Update procurement strategies based on changing market conditions.
  • Prepares and edits presentations describing Procurement methods, trends of lead times, prices, or other relevant information within procurement’s scope of activities.
  • Assembles contract requirements and produces contract synopses for use in post- award contract management.
  • What we are looking for

  • In-depth understanding of global telecommunications and technology (specifically Data Centre, interconnection market & Cloud Service Providers) in particular competitive and regulatory environments.
  • High levels of numeracy and affinity with understanding business performance metrics.
  • High energy, collaborative, strong cross executive collaboration experience.
  • Self-starter, entrepreneurial with a hands-on approach towards business.
  • Strategic mindset and problem solving/decision making skills.
  • Expert communication, presentation, and time management skills.
  • Must work successfully in a remote, globally distributed team environment.
  • Experience in negotiating large scale agreements.
  • Deliver against cost saving and cost reduction targets.
  • Finalises and executes contracts and develops contract management plans in collaboration with key executive stakeholders.
  • Has the ability to interpret and guide others in order to show Procurement’s value.
  • Degree in operations/supply chain management/business, or extensive experience in sourcing and procurement required.
  • International & Domestic travel is essential.
