The Role:

No two days are alike at Athena, but we envisage your days looking a little something like this;

  • Daily / periodic tasks such as:
    • Cash flow and portfolio reporting to investors and other external parties
    • Supporting funder, investor, and trustee data requirements/requests
    • Portfolio analysis to ensure compliance with portfolio parameters and covenants
    • Planning and execution of mortgage asset transfers and debt programme transactions within Athena’s warehouse and whole loan sale pools
  • Liaising with external banks, rating agencies, lawyers, and other counterparties as part of programme and transaction management
  • Participation in funding and debt market activities; specifically supporting;
  • the development of Athena’s public term RMBS programme
  • innovative funding transactions such as ‘whole-loan’ portfolio sales
  • Daily monitoring of overall Asset and Liability Management (ALM) positions (Fixed Rate Risk and Basis Risk); planning hedging transactions and assisting with interest rate swap management, counterparty management and deal execution
  • Play an active role in the development of Athena’s Trust Management capabilities
  • Work alongside our Treasurer in completing analysis and producing data reports for management and The Board related to liquidity, funding, and other Treasury matters
  • Help identify key areas of treasury process improvement and implement change.

About you

  • You’re motivated by a fast-paced working environment with a relatively flat structure
  • You love working in a small team, gaining hands-on exposure to all aspects of non-bank treasury management.
  • You’re comfortable dealing directly with external financial market participants
  • You have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a Banking /Financial Services or Treasury-related role.

What a successful candidate looks like

  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or a relevant quantitative field
  • Experience in Structured Finance and Securitisation transactions is highly regarded
  • Previous Securitisation Trust Management experience and/or experience with interest rate swaps, FX, and derivative management (preferred)
  • Sound understanding of Treasury functions and Financial Markets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, with a high level of initiative, diligence and focus on task delivery
  • A natural feel for numbers, and an ability to understand and respond to potential risks
  • You are a problem-solver and embrace the can-do.
  • You are a team player.
  • You are keen to learn and get comfortable with new technologies.
