About the role

High performance is a given at Airtasker and our Finance team is no exception, partnering the business by providing vital insights to support strategic decision making. An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our growing team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will help build a best practice reporting and control function that will be vital to support Airtasker’s strong product growth and international expansion.

What you’ll do:

  • End-to-end ownership of the Accounts Payable function.
  • Manage/maintain vendor set up and creations according to company guidelines.
  • Effective management of accounts payable inbox.
  • Processing invoices and payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures (e.g. appropriate cost centres and regions combinations etc).
  • Reviewing invoices/expense claims, recording taxes/GST, allocating expenses to appropriate ledger accounts and cost centres. General ledger accounts include the appropriate recording of prepayments, accruals and fixed assets register.
  • Processing timely and accurate approved invoices for payments to vendors and employees.
  • Clarifying any questionable invoice items, responding to invoice/payment queries from stakeholders.
  • Processing intercompany transactions.
  • Effective cash flow management (tracking and planning) to preserve company liquidity.
  • Biweekly bank reconciliations of trading bank accounts.
  • Maintaining accurate accounts payable records, confidentiality of organisational information and existing controls.
  • Effective stakeholder management to ensure efficient enforcement of financial controls within the Accounts Payable function.
  • Fixed assets register maintenance including recording and disposal of fixed assets.
  • Support with the month-end closing process - production of P&L, Balance Sheet reconciliations and expense analysis.
  • What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a senior level or standalone Accounts Payable specialist role.
  • This is a stand-alone role so the ability to work autonomously is a must.
  • High level of organizational skills, time management and prioritization.
  • Numerically confident and have an understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles relevant to the Accounts Payable function. 
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to manage internal and external relationships.
  • Methodical with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Passion for continuous improvement and process automation.
  • Collaborative, highly adaptable with strong business partnering capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (in particular Microsoft Excel).
  • Experience with Netsuite, Xero and Expensify is highly advantageous.
  • Experience working across multiple currencies is beneficial.
