Are you an experienced Accounting Lead or Manager with a good sense of humour, a rock-solid work ethic, and mind-blowing attention to detail? We’ve built a truly exceptional team of Accounting professionals who take their jobs, but not themselves, very seriously. You will primarily be responsible for month-end and year-end close activities including balance sheet reconciliations, journals, and assisting with year-end audit deliverables and related day to day operations of the business. This role will serve as an Accounting Manager on the general ledger team, reviewing the teams work, guiding the team on accounting questions and projects, and running special projects that impact their team.

More about you:
You enjoy numbers and have extensive experience in accounting roles in multinational companies and/or audit firms (preferably in a public company environment subject to SOX) and have had exposure to balance sheet reconciliations, journal entry preparation and review and audit request preparation. You have prior experience in technical accounting matters and a good understanding of US GAAP and IFRS, and are looking for a role where you can guide and coach others and lead projects. We’d love for you to have experience using NetSuite or another equivalent system (e.g., SAP, Oracle), Blackline or other reconciliation tools, and have an intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel. Finally, you enjoy interacting with other departments/functions to ensure accurate and timely financial accounting.

In this role, you'll get to:

Act as Accounting Manager for members of the general ledger team, coaching the team on accounting matters and various projects as needed

Be responsible for accounting and close activities of multiple areas of the general ledger as assigned, duties will rotate periodically can include items such as accruals, inter-company accounting, fixed assets, debt, M&A accounting and international accounting

Perform timely and accurate review for teams assigned areas in accordance with our monthly close schedule

Ensure classification of areas assigned between ST and LT is accurately stated

Work closely with larger finance team on accounting, coding, and process questions (department, account, amortisation period) Lead special projects such as implementing accounting processes and requirements

Have ownership over processes assigned and update Standard Operating Procedures as needed.

Field timely audit requests: preparing supporting documentation and resolving questions from external auditors

Research and resolve accounting issues, and assist with application of US GAAP and IFRS accounting policies for assigned areas Partner with the team to continuously improve system automation in an effort to help scale accounting operations

On day one, we'll expect you to have:

Extensive experience in a similar role coupled with a Chartered Accountant certification

Experience with NetSuite or another equivalent system (e.g., SAP, Oracle) preferred

Extensive knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel required

Experience in GL accounting including preparation or review of balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries, and experience assisting with quarterly/yearly audits preferred.

Ability to initiate timely communication, follow up, and status updates

Strong attention to detail and ability for self-review

You are highly proactive, organised and have a very strong work ethic

Desire to learn and further develop accounting skills

Proven ability to work in a fast-paced work environment, while maintaining accuracy

Experience going through ERP conversion is a plus

This role will be a member of the General Ledger accounting team at Atlassian which is responsible for looking after the general ledger and running the month end close process, our work includes most general ledger accounts except revenue and tax. In this role you will work with various members of the accounting team in addition to working closely with FP&A to meet monthly deliverables. You will also be liaising with the external accountants on a regular basis to ensure that all accounting compliance matters are up to date.
