The Opportunity:  

Maropost is looking for a Technical Lead who will be responsible for leading Scrum team members in conducting software design, development, and testing. This person will have proven expertise in application architecture, back-end and front-end development, infrastructure scripting into code, as well as demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring Scrum development teams focused on PHP-based web applications. 

What You’ll be Responsible for:  

  • Planning and design of new features and development work. 
  • Work together with other team members and product owners/designers on defining the technical approach and architectural components of solutions.
  • Review implementation details with team as required and facilitate discussion and feedback on work, ensuring work items and documentation are updated as required.
  • Mentoring and technical leadership of Scrum team(s). 
  • Assist the team in solving issues or answering technical questions.
  • Identify and seek solutions for issues or tools that are causing on-going quality issues or are impacting the teams’ ability to deliver.
  • Review and monitor team deliverables and processes for adherence to standards.
  • Pro-actively address technical issues and concerns with members of the team.
  • Technical research, prototyping and framework development. 
  • Identify and investigate proposed technologies to address business needs. 
  • Perform technical discovery and prototyping to validate proposed solutions.
  • Build out and manage frameworks, patterns and architectures for on-going use by the development team in building out solutions and features.
  • Prioritising, coordinating, and managing individual workload from start to finish to ensure it contributes to the team sprint goals. 
  • Collaborating with developers and product teams to deliver the optimal solution.
  • Actively contributing to the team’s continuous improvement.

What’s You’ll Bring to Maropost:  

  • 5+ years’ experience with PHP-based web applications. 
  • 2+ years’ experience in a team or technical lead role. 
  • Experience in backend development, unit testing and functional testing of software applications. 
  • Proven knowledge around writing scalable performant code. 
  • Substantial knowledge and experience with PHP, MySQL, Linux, REST API’s, JSON. 
  • Familiarity with agile methodology and test driven development. 
  • Analytical problem solving skills. 
  • A customer-centric focus, always keeping the customer in mind during the SDLC. 
  • Fast learner, able to pick up complex business rules quickly to gain an understanding of applications. 
  • Ability to quickly integrate into a team of skilled developers and to adapt to existing processes and tools. 
  • Experience and knowledge in retail or ecommerce environments highly regarded. 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Symfony framework 
  • PHPUnit, Behat, and other testing methodologies and frameworks 
  • HTML, CSS, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, and modern JavaScript libraries 
  • Exposure to cloud service providers, such as AWS and GCP
