About the company/role:

Unique blockchain assets ("NFTs") have grown in popularity rapidly over the past few months. These unique assets allow people to own anything from in-game items to digital art to music and financial instruments.

However, they are highly illiquid: transactions take minutes or hours to confirm, and Ethereum can process fewer than 5 NFTs per second for the whole world combined. To solve this problem for ourselves and for others, we have built Immutable X, a next-generation protocol for trading blockchain assets with instant trade confirmation, massive scalability, and net zero carbon emissions without compromising user custody. The goal of Immutable X is to help businesses scale their creation and trading of these unique assets (“NFTs”).

As Immutable X grows, we are searching for a principal engineer to help us build a secure, scalable and stable ownership layer for Ethereum. You don’t need any blockchain experience, but you do need to have strong engineering principles and fundamentals, and the confidence to own the technical design and execution of a large component within our product.

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work in a high growth startup environment
  • Contribute to some of the most significant NFT projects in the space
  • Work with some awesome technology (Ethereum, ZK-STARKs)
  • Have direct influence on the future of a key infrastructure platform in a fun space (gaming)
  • Take on a future leadership role and grow within the company
  • In this role you will:

  • Design and implement well-crafted features for our products
  • Architect and supervise the implementation of product-wide engineering choices
  • Be an advocate for process and practice improvements in engineering
  • Act as a point of contact for product managers doing technical discovery
  • Create tools to help yourself and others improve the development process and experience
  • Provide early validation for technical decisions
  • Conduct internal training and education on engineering practices and processes
  • What you’ll need:

  • 5+ years of experience as an engineer
  • Experience leading the design of engineering solutions to complex problems
  • Experience working on the backend of products in Golang or Typescript
  • Some of the things we can offer you:

  • Competitive salary, plus equity
  • Flexibility to work from home regularly
  • Located near Central Station in Surry Hills with a rooftop
  • Fun, regular social events to relax and connect with teammates
  • A very supportive, positive, and progressive environment

  • Perkbox benefits including premium access to Calm, an online fitness portal and discounts at major retailers
  • Thousands of online learning courses via Go1, Udemy and Naspers
