The primary purpose of the People Team at Tyro is to enable Tyro to be an employer of choice by hiring the best talent, engaging and empowering our people to do their best work, and fostering a happy and healthy workplace environment for all. We are seeking a passionate HR Business Partner t to join our broader team of 16 which is comprised of HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition Partners, People Operations, Payroll and Workplace Experience.
The primary role of the HR Generalist or People Engagement Partner at Tyro is to embed the Tyro people strategy across Tyro and to be the trusted advisor to people leaders of their respective functions, to drive high performance and values-driven behaviour in their teams, increase employee engagement and ensure a positive employee experience.

What you'll be doing:

  • Contributing to Tyro’s people strategy by helping to identify, prioritise and build organisational capabilities, behaviours, structures and processes.
  • Supporting Functional Leaders (Heads of Departments) and People Leaders in driving performance in their teams and planning and forecasting the talent pipeline requirements in line with the function and business strategy.
  • Provide generalist support and HR business partnering for a range of matters throughout the employee lifecycle including onboarding, engagement and culture, learning & development, policy advice, remuneration and benefits, retention and offboarding, performance management and ER/IR (grievance handling, Awards)
  • Retaining a high performing workforce through effective and creative retention strategies.
  • Designing and implementing appropriate learning and development programs as needed.
  • Facilitating and executing initiatives to build a high performing organisation.
  • Ensuring leadership and coaching culture is cascaded through your functions and across Tyro.
  • Providing clear leadership by demonstrating a sound understanding of each of your functions, their strategy, their priorities and their needs and by understanding external business and HR trends and applying what is relevant to your functions and Tyro.
  • Facilitating and executing initiatives to build a high performing organisation.
  • Driving people processes (performance, development and career) to ensure that employees’ level of performance and capabilities meet current and future standards.
  • Managing specific projects as determined in the HR project plan as well as participating in functional and cross-functional initiatives as required.
  • Developing and promoting feedback mechanisms for employees to influence continuous improvement.
  • What we're looking for:

  • 3+ years in an HR Generalist role with a fast-moving organisation
  • Formal training or education in HR, Humanities, Social Science, Psychology
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Previous experience in making data-driven decisions
  • Confidence and gravitas to present in front of an audience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills where you are able to articulate your thoughts and advice in a concise and considered manner
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
