Hearsay is a SaaS research conversations platform that helps brands dive deeply into their customers lives to unpack insights for brand growth, in a rigorous and cost effective way.  We streamline the research conversations process and make it super easy for marketing people and strategists to speak with customers and build business growing insights.

We are uniquely positioned to do this as we have been market research practitioners and brand strategists with over 35 years of experience.   And we are already well on our way! Launching our MVP in (June) we have validated our approach, raised capital and are ready to build the next version to allow our company to scale and grow.

There are only one or two businesses operating in our space ( and suzylive) so the opportunity is great and we are the only ones in Australia. This category is ready for disruption moving from a staid, traditional approach to a new tech led Future of Work industry.

The Role:

We are looking for a hands-on, Technical Lead/CTO to join our small team taking on a gigantic opportunity. You will be empowered with the freedom to define our technical direction by bringing your own ideas to the table, and to have a critical voice in the direction of both the product and the company. 

As the Technical Lead you must have a strong sense of accountability and be a strategic thinker. You must feel comfortable picking a path and sticking to it. As an effective communicator and a strong team builder you will be agile in mindset and practice. 

You will work directly with the CEO and will act as our technology expert, making decisions that will impact the current and future operations of the company.

We are looking for someone who can work closely with the CEO to define and develop a comprehensive product suite supporting a customer facing digital platform with back-end services that connect to 3rd party data sources.

Reports To

The Technical Lead will report to Founder/CEO and work closely wth the Head of Client Experience.


  • Set the technical direction of the platform
  • Help migrate the platform inside the business from external local agency
  • Manage the development of the platform and tech stack for a phased launch
  • Ensure the platform is scalable for global roll out and to support significant customer activity
  • Translate customer problems into digital solutions 
  • Solve performance problems and architectural challenges
  • Integration and maintenance of data storage solutions with the highest level of security
  • Updating and integration of user-facing front end elements
  • Contribute to company strategy setting & development of platform roadmap
  • Implementing automation where-ever possible

Experience required:

  • Preferable Bachelor or above degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Experience translating ideas and designs into commercially viable products.
  • Strong understanding and experience of full stack development
  • Understanding of product lifecycle processes for products, including product research, market research, competitive analysis, planning, roadmap development
  • Experience delivering highly loved web and mobile experiences
  • Proficiency with fundamental front end languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Proficiency with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular JS, React and Amber etc
  • Proficiency with server-side languages such as Node JS, Python, Ruby, Java, PHP, .Net etc
  • Familiarity with database technology such as MySQL, MongoDB etc
