At Spaceship, we’re on a mission to enable people to invest in their future, so they can live the life they want to live. We started in 2017 with Spaceship Super, and in 2018 we launched Spaceship Voyager, which is making investing easy, for everyone.

Since launch, we have grown to more than 200,000 financial members and surpassed $1 billion in funds under management – but we’re just getting started.

What will you be doing?

Reporting to the CEO and being part of the executive leadership team, you will lead Spaceship’s product vision and roadmap to deliver market-leading innovation in Spaceship’s financial products and digital product experience.

To achieve this, you will lead a multi-disciplinary product function and work cross functionally to deliver Spaceship’s product roadmap with a high standard of execution - knowing when to set direction and step back, and when to dive in and get your hands dirty.

More specifically, you will:

  • Bring together a multi-disciplinary team of financial product experts, digital product managers and product designers to efficiently build product, turning financial products and digital features into customer experiences that delight.
  • Oversee the product development lifecycle from concept to launch across all current and future products.
  • Mobilise cross-functional teams, preventing silos through effective communication and collaborative ways of working.
  • Ensure the product team is structured and evolves in a way that optimises for efficient delivery execution, while factoring in the dynamics of Spaceship’s products, as well as wider organisational resource levels and development processes.
  • Lead, develop, coach and mentor the product team, promoting a culture of learning and curiosity.
  • Establish and oversee standards and processes related to planning, feature discovery, and requirements analysis and documentation.
  • Balance the macro and micro - set the vision, strategy, standards and processes, while being prepared to be hands-on in feature discovery, drafting/reviewing wireframes, PRDs, etc.
  • Own the product prioritisation process, ensuring trade-offs are managed between customer experience, commercial value, operational improvements, delivery feasibility, technical limitations, resourcing capacity, and maintenance vs build.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer journeys and product performance through data and experimentation, ensuring the product team is highly literate in using data to measure success and inform product decisions.
  • Be fanatical about the customer and user experience - thinking deeply and analytically about the product, customer experience and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Immerse yourself in financial technology, investing, superannuation, personal finance - researching ideas, anticipating trends, understanding the competitive and regulatory landscape, as well as developments in other geographies - all to inspire innovative thinking, and to capitalise on commercial and customer-focused opportunities.
  • Contribute to Spaceship’s vision and strategy as part of the executive leadership team, while translating top-line company objectives into the product roadmap.
  • Act as a key voice of Spaceship's product vision, both inside and outside the organisation.

  • Customer obsession, combined with commercial nous.
  • An expert in all aspects of the product development lifecycle, with a willingness to be a hands-on leader.
  • Strong comprehension of technology and how to efficiently build software/digital products.
  • An understanding of what it means to lead product in a financial services organisation.
  • First principle thinker when it comes to organisational design - able to structure teams to optimise for delivery execution - understanding the trade-offs of different structures, and ensuring it is tailored to the specific dynamics of the organisation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, with an exceptional track record in execution and delivery.
