About the role
Reporting to the Director of Legal & Compliance, you will lead and manage the risk and compliance frameworks across Zip’s regulatory activities in Australia & New Zealand. This will entail scaling out and managing Zip’s risk and compliance programs under Zip’s ACL and AFSL. This role will also include leading and growing a team of compliance specialists across all regulatory areas, managing internal and external reporting requirements and helping to create, implement and maintain internal policies and practices to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance. 

A day in the life:

  • Provide guidance on compliance with new and existing regulatory obligations, particularly on ACL, AFSL, DDO, privacy, applicable codes of conduct and other legislative obligations.
  • Provide recommendations to the business on appropriate, robust, and scalable controls and operational processes to be developed in the context of new business initiatives and in response to changing regulatory or policy requirements;
  • Perform ongoing review of the Compliance program, to ensure we remain compliant as the business continues to grow and increases in complexity, and building a high performing Compliance function.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior management on the effectiveness of the compliance framework;
  • Ensuring that we bring a compliance lens to new product / feature design, and assisting front line teams to implement controls in order to test ongoing effectiveness including monitoring the effectiveness of project management processes and methodologies.
  • Ongoing assessment of Zip’s exposure and vulnerabilities. Delivering valuable practical insights of any areas for improvement for existing key processes and controls while providing analysis, guidance, and awareness training across all business units.
  • Leading uplift programs where required (i.e. acquisitions) to ensure that all members of the group are operating a best practice compliance program.
  • Your skills:

  • Demonstrated relevant experience (at least 8+ years).
  • Deep understanding and awareness of the regulatory frameworks under which we operate (credit and financial services)
  • Experience in developing, uplifting and implementing compliance frameworks
  • Manager experience (including growing a high performing team)
  • Awareness of changes to guidelines and enforcement action across the market.
  • Excellent project management and delivery leadership, with solid experience in governance and negotiating/influencing skills across different level management and stakeholders/vendors.
  • Track record in delivering fit-for-purpose solutions for the business and end-to-end execution of agreed actions, including initiation and implementation of short-term tactical and long-term strategic changes.
  • Stakeholder management - in order to be successful, you need to have the ability to build interpersonal relationships with all major key stakeholders across the business.
  • You have a can do attitude and bring commercial solutions to the table – You own it and Do it.
  • Bonus points for:

  • Certification and membership with relevant industry associations
  • Leadership experience in a start-up or high growth environment
  • Tech savvy, used to working with cloud-based solutions.
