About the role:
You’ll be leading a cross functional product team working with engineers, designers, subject matter experts and architects to build a software platform enabling Xero’s regional product teams to deliver effortless compliance experiences at scale globally.

What will a day in the life look like?
In a typical day you’ll be working with designers and your team to build a profound understanding of Xero’s customers. These are small businesses and their advisors, who want to be confident that they’re meeting all of their tax obligations, with the least possible effort, so that they can focus on what really matters to them.

You’ll run discovery sessions to align on the problems and solutions your team should tackle, reach out to stakeholders all over the world to validate your thinking and break it down into a plan for your team to incrementally build globally scalable platform capabilities enabling Xero to deliver a beautiful tax experience for customers in each of our key regions.
Engineering and architecture will be key allies for you. The direct users of many of the experiences your team delivers will be other product teams who want to leverage the APIs your team builds, and extend the capabilities your teams deliver. 

What you'll do:

  • You’ll work with customers, product managers, designers, development teams and other stakeholders to form a deep understanding of customer problems and potential solutions
  • You’ll be a champion for the customer by collaborating with the team to develop user stories, wireframes, and workflows that solve real problems for our customers.
  • You’ll use your prioritisation skills to make the right call on what needs to be addressed when and how value can be delivered as early as possible
  • You’ll use your great research, analysis and decision-making skills to juggle the wide range of enhancements and bug fixes that will come your way, into an achievable roadmap
  • You will work with the Product Manager and other Product Owners to ensure development teams are clear about why features are prioritised and that they are motivated to build beautiful products that are aligned with Xero’s global strategy
  • You’ll work closely with the Product Manager and other Product Owners to help ensure compliance standards are met and any risks managed
  • You’ll engage regularly with other teams and stakeholders from the wider business, such as support, success, marketing, training and sales, who help bring your solutions to market
