Our Operations team is driven to deliver to our internal and external customers on the amazing promise that is THE ICONIC and Customer Liberation.  Our operations team is a multi-talented group of professionals who have skills and experience across vendor management, inbound and outbound fulfilment, warehousing, reverse logistics, delivery, inventory management, production image and content creation, marketplace operations, supply chain development, fulfilment strategy and customer service.

Our ambition is to continue to rapidly grow and do so in a sustainably profitable way, and our strategy to deliver on the vision is to execute against our Turbo25 strategy.  To support the execution of our strategy, it is essential that we have a Project Management Office that operates as a business wide centre of excellence and provides high calibre people to support the scoping and delivery of the prioritised key initiatives.  The vision is that the Head of the PMO is an engaging and inspiring leader who develops and coaches talent within the business.

Our Project Management team consists of Project Managers, Project Coordinators, a Change manager and as required seconded SMEs and is responsible for delivery of projects across Operations and the broader business as required. 

As the Head of the Project Management Office, your role plays a critical part in developing Project Management capability, and ensuring the leadership, disciplines and delivery of projects are achieved to a high standard across the business.

Working closely with the SLT, the Turbo prioritisation board, as well as finance, initiative owners, and product owners, the head of PMO will oversee and allocate PMO resources and ensure delivery of the prioritised projects to the agreed scope, to the agreed standard.

The Head of PMO will be responsible to report on our key strategic initiatives, highlighting to our senior leadership group progress realised, key risks and issues, upcoming milestones, decisions needed to be made, and will work with Finance to track value realisation.

What’s involved…

  • You will act a leader, a collaborator, and experienced in both Programme and Continuous Improvement delivery using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • Partnering with relevant stakeholders to develop best practices and ensure organisational learning
  • Building strong, trust-based relationships with my stakeholders to support their goals
  • Solve complex problems and steer outcomes to reach the most beneficial result, finding the best pragmatic solution for the circumstances both now and into the future
  • Lead all resourcing across strategic and optimisation projects leveraging resources based on skills, experience and resource availability. 
  • Oversee the team’s project management skills development both soft and hard, providing coaching, support and mentoring as needed.
  • Coach project managers and functional SMEs who lead major projects which vary in size and complexity. 
  • Provide strategic advice on project scope, schedule, budget, priorities and risks whilst managing internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, and where complications arise, I remove roadblocks to support my team to a successful resolution.
  • Manage and drive engagement by being humble, demonstrating ICONIC values, and enabling my team to leverage their strengths, and develop their skills & competencies
  • Monitor all projects on an ongoing basis, evaluating progress, risks, cost and quality whilst providing updates to the leadership team.
  • Ensure the quality of all documents and data to assure the projects integrity.
  • Provide reports on analysed data and communicate results.
  • Optimise the utilisation of resources through specific development of project management tools.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, initiative owners and other contributors to achieve project deliverables.
  • Develop additional tools and refine processes to help all projects run effectively.

About you…

  • Complex stakeholder management to a high degree
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and 10+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CAPM/PMP/Prince2 or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Fluent in change management, communication and general business process transformation methodologies and principles. Knowledge of ITIL/Agile/Scrum/Kanban and other IT methodologies and frameworks is a plus.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software; e.g. MS-Project, monday.com or SmartSheets.
  • Self-starter and team player.
  • Adaptable to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
  • Strong written, verbal and visual skills - an opportunity not leveraged, a process not followed, a concept not understood is a wasted opportunity
  • An agile, continuous improvement mindset
  • An understanding of complex high volume fulfilment operations - in retail, or fmcg supply chains
  • Ability to manage priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated desire to learn, coach and build a strong high performing team
  • Capacity to listen to people and synthesize information
