Senior Financial Accountant 

THE ICONIC Finance Team consists of Financial Reporting (Accounts Payable, Payroll, Reporting etc), Financial Planning & Analysis, Legal, Procurement, Risk and Controls. What’s involved…

The role of Senior Financial Accountant sits within our Financial Reporting Team and is responsible for the efficient delivery of month/quarter/year end, internal and external audit, and ad hoc projects. The role reports to our Financial Reporting Manager and will also work closely with key operational departments across our business.

Some of the tasks you will be responsible will include the following:

  • Manage all postings to the Sales lines including estimations around cut off for sales, discounts and corresponding metrics for items and orders. Reconcile relevant balance sheet accounts (Deferred income and Goods in Transit). 
  • Reconciliation of GL balances to different data sources to ensure no material differences and that the financial results are aligned with underlying trading results from Sales to Margin.
  • Manage the returns provisioning process and posting to ensure accurate provision is being held on the balance sheet and assumptions around margins are reasonable compared to overall margins in the month and month prior.
  • Manage unredeemed gift cards process and postings including monitoring of expired gift cards.
  • Manage deferred discounts and store credits process and postings.
  • Ensure all manual journals postings have support, particularly those in audit sensitive areas i.e. sales, cut-off and returns
  • Prepare monthly actuals submission in Onestream
  • Provide analysis and commentary on monthly management memos and assisting Manager to evaluate and ensure the integrity of the information
  • Coordinate and maintain the chart of accounts to ensure integrity of the financial information in the trial balance
  • Review and ensure accuracy of balance sheet reconciliations prepared by other FR team members. 
  • Ensure reconciliations are carried out in line with GFG’s accounting policies and local GAAP.
  • Co-manage quarterly and annual audit reviews
  • Assist Manager in statutory financial statements preparation
  • Assist Manager in supervising month end activities 
  • Establish and maintain effective financial controls, processes and systems
  • Liase with the Group entity and other internal stakeholders
  • Investigation of any ad hoc issues

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Accounting Standards
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to produce meaningful and insightful financial analysis to guide business decision making and influence others
  • A problem solver with the ability to understand data sources and make data-based decisions
  • Exceptional organisational ability, managing multiple priorities and adhering to strict internal and external deadlines
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with an ability to win the trust and respect of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communicator with strong, clear, concise writing and presentation skills. 
  • Experience in supervising junior team members
  • Experience with medium to large ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 highly regarded)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and interpreting large data
  • Exposure to Finance automations, transformation and business process mapping
  • Exposure with audit and preparation of statutory financial statements
