About the roles

Micro-X is looking to extend our software capability with multiple roles, suiting candidates with varying levels of experience. The Software Engineer is a crucial role within the Micro-X engineering team, helping to produce high quality technical solutions across a range of Micro-X development programs. You will be involved in a broad range of engineering activities, from concept through to product delivery. In addition, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of the software delivery process.

The role is Adelaide based and may require both national and international travel. We are willing to support relocation.

Job tasks and responsibilities

We are a rapidly moving company with a keen cost focus. You will need a strong commercial mind-set, high energy, initiative and drive. Your tasks will include:

Designing software and firmware solutions for a wide range of new technology developments

Defining and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for our software repositories

Coordinating and performing software testing of prototypes and pre-production units.

Input to development program project schedules and budgets.

Troubleshooting & support for service and manufacturing

Ensuring engineering standards of quality, cost, safety, timeliness and performance are observed.

Liaising with customers, manufacturing and other stakeholders to drive customer centric solutions.

Relationship building and managing positive customer-supplier relationships.

Skills and experience

Candidates must demonstrate:

Minimum 3 years' technical experience in complex multi-disciplinary system development and manufacture in a commercial environment.

Engineering degree in software discipline. Ideal candidates will have Honours degrees.

Prior DevOps experience, or a keen interest in it, is highly valued.

Prior experience with C/C++ and Rust is highly valued

Experience with POSIX/Unix-like systems is ideal.

Experience with programming for STM32-family microprocessors is useful

Medical device industry experience is preferred, and working knowledge of the global defence, security and medical industries is highly valued.

Complete understanding of business pressures and motivations, including a strong ability to adjust to tight and moving project deadlines.
