People & Culture Manager at Longtail UX

We are on the hunt for a Senior People & Culture Manager to join our growing scale-up. This role is right for you if you have a genuine passion for people and helping them to achieve excellence and have a great day at work! This is a key role in our business. Our people are what makes our team great and we have a strong culture in place that we want to continue to nurture as we enter our next stage of growth.

Reporting to the CEO and partnering with our Executive Team and Managers you will build out our People & Culture structures and processes as well as develop and implement new initiatives across our growing business. We currently have 27 employees but are likely to grow the team significantly over the coming year (and with overall team growth the People & Culture team will grow proportionately).

This is a true HR generalist role and your key responsibilities will include:

  • End-to-end HR tasks throughout the entire employee lifecycle including employer branding, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance, and offboarding
  • Maintain and ensure compliance for all WHS and Statutory obligations
  • Provide coaching and advice to managers and employees for all HR related matters
  • Maintain all People & Culture related software applications and documentation (e.g. Bamboo HR, Workable, Confluence, and any new software or upgrades)
  • Work closely with the Executive Team to ensure regular and clear employee communications, along with a consistent rhythm of feedback (1:1’s, Quarterly Reviews, 360-degree Feedback, etc)
  • Identify industry standards and metrics, company baseline metrics, to better understand and drive improvement in people management
  • Provide input into, communicate and systematise company culture including driving employee happiness and new culture initiatives
  • Work closely with Team leads to develop and implement Training and Development: identify skill gaps, personal development plans, career planning, upskilling
  • And when we are back working in our Balmain office: Building and equipment maintenance and support, Asset management, ensuring the kitchen's stocked with yummy treats and working with the engineering team to ensure all employees have the tools they need.

You’re perfect for this role if you have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of leadership experience working in a People & Culture Manager/ HR Generalist or related field
  • Strong understanding of Australian employment legislation
  • Exceptional empathy, patience, active listening, ability to de-escalate emotional situations
  • Open, honest, and authentic communication
  • Comfortable working autonomously, using initiative, dealing with ambiguity, and influencing senior leaders
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Experience working with a range of HR tools including ATS and HRIS tools

It would be highly regarded (but not essential) if you have:

  • Experience in a start/scale-up environment and/or tech environment
  • Experience scaling a small team to 50+ employee
