Critical to our success is our New Markets team who identify new economically-viable regions with uniquely sustainable distribution entry strategies, own the land and expand activities required to accelerate market share growth with a proven playbook and deploy and support our technology and product platforms.

The purpose of the Regulatory Strategy Manager role is to support our growth in new markets by developing a deep understanding of the intersection between finance, technology and regulation in both existing and potential new markets. You will be accountable for understanding and explaining the regulatory regimes in markets where Zip does not yet have a presence, establishing the regulatory and compliance functions in new markets of choice, and collaborating with global capabilities to ensure smooth, successful, compliant market entries for Zip.

The role

  • Identify the attributes of proposed products so that the regulatory implications of their intended use, design and performance in new jurisdictions can be assessed. 
  • Define and document regulatory regimes in markets where Zip may not yet have a presence.
  • Support Zip’s launch in new markets by ensuring launches are expeditious and compliant. 
  • Lead responsibility for developing Zip’s regulatory strategy in new markets.
  • Perform risk assessments to understand risk level, significance and scope.
  • Keep up to date with, and understand, relevant laws and regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies.
  • Educate employees on regulations, and the impact on our customers and the organisation if these aren't complied with.
  • Contribute to robust and effective compliance controls in Zip’s new markets.
  • Collaborate with other geographies and departments to create a culture of compliance.

  • At least 8 years experience working in regulatory advisory roles, addressing a wide range of financial regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Working experience in financial services or technology environments with a retail or payments focus will be highly regarded, as well as experience entering new markets
  • An ability to explain complex matters to non-expert stakeholders, and work with those stakeholders to develop novel solutions. 
  • You’re naturally passionate about why compliance matters and how it contributes to successful customer, business and community outcomes.
  • You place importance on building strong relationships and pride yourself on your excellent communication skills.
  • A willingness to learn, be challenged and be part of a team of like-minded people who want to make a difference.
  • Analytical background: you can mold and understand data to drive action and results.
  • Project management experience with an obsession over details.
  • Excellent communication skills: collaborate effectively at both a local and global level.
