About the Role

Location: The position is based at our office on the edge of Melbourne CBD and does offer the flexibility to work from home when not completing hardware-related tasks.

Team Background: Working closely with the Hardware and Innovation teams, the Software team enables the performance monitoring, data analysis, and development of new technologies and solutions to help us achieve our company mission of engineering the future of battery energy storage.

Who we’re looking for: We are seeking a Software Engineer with specialist expertise in Simulink and control systems who will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-fidelity system models that serve as digital twins of our energy storage products. This role is critical in accelerating product development through rapid iteration of control and design parameters, ultimately achieving optimal performance.

The successful candidate engineer will ensure that real-world system performance aligns closely with simulations, enabling data-driven decision-making and will contribute to the product improvement, mentorship, and innovation projects that will see Relectrify deliver game-changing technologies.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing and maintaining Simulink models and test harnesses for our energy storage products;
  • Designing and validating control systems for optimal performance;
  • Supporting system and integration testing;
  • Supporting product certification and commissioning processes by recreating use case and test scenarios in simulation;
  • Operating and debugging hardware to align system behaviour with simulations;
  • Working with systems engineers to ensure traceability between models, requirements and tests.

Requirements

Must-have experience: 

  • Expert proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Proven experience in control system design
  • Strong background in electrical engineering principles and applications
  • Hardware testing and debugging skills

Nice-to-have experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering
  • Experience with embedded programming in C/C++/Rust
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering
  • Familiarity with software development cycles and CI/CD practices
  • Knowledge of V-model and testing methodologies
  • Experience with requirements management
  • Passion for renewable energy, battery technology, or related fields
