This role will bring technical expertise to the Advanced Navigation Team and Production expertise to our Perth based R&D team. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth transition of new products from R&D into Production and for providing technical input into failure analysis, fault finding and improvements related to product design, manage quarantine investigations and repairs, manage RMA Investigations and repairs
Be the technical expert for the Production Team and provide Production expertise to the R&D teamAssess production failures for root cause and determine repair methods and corrective actions Implement repairs or provide instructions to a technician. Report findingsAssess customer returned products to determine failure mode and propose repair methodsComplete repairs or provide detailed instructions for a technician to completeDocument findings and prepare customer reportsIdentify systemic Production quality issues, troubleshoot and advise the Production Team on technical process improvementsDrive and coordinate Production Change, including reviewing change proposals, reviewing design changes and implementing process changeTest the first Production batch of new or modified components or assembliesBe the authority for the receipt of new products & production requirements into ProductionProvide production expertise to R&D for high level assembly process designComplete detailed assembly process designEnsure suitable QA/QC systemsProvide inputs to Work instructionsComplete assembly training of Production Team TechniciansVerify Production Jigs and Equipment designed by R&D before production acceptanceProvide input to Design for Manufacture reviews during product development.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Bachelor of Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering5-10 years in a similar position, in a similar industryExperienced in the assembly & fabrication of complicated multi part mechanical and electronic productsCapable of upskilling quickly to develop deep technical capabilities in a challenging technical domainAble to work collaboratively with the local team in Perth and remotely with the team in Sydney with a variety of stakeholders across the business, including R&D Engineers and Production TechniciansStrong, efficient communicator, written and verbalWell developed, structured problem solving, fault finding and debugging skillsStrong attention to detail with an ability to provide accurate technical documentationExperience planning and scheduling your own work
Experience working within a formal product transition setting (medical, Defence or automotive)
