Where does the Product Insights Analyst role fit in?
Xero’s product vision is to make life better for people in small businesses, their advisors and communities around the world. To achieve these goals we need strong analytical minds to empower Xero in delivering successful customer outcomes through actionable insights.

As a Product Insights Analyst you will leverage your data driven expertise and Xero’s analytic tools to educate stakeholders and enable great decision making. You’ll also thrive on complex challenges and enjoy working with stakeholders to help solve their problems. We are looking for two strong candidates to provide insights and analytics for our product teams. Both roles will support Xero’s growth in solving small business operational needs beyond compliance, to help them manage their business as well as employee needs.

What you'll do:

  • Help drive product development decisions by sizing opportunities and providing a data driven understanding of the current customer behaviours
  • Use SQL / R / Python to source data from our many different databases
  • You’ll work with large datasets and gain exposure to modern cloud based data platforms
  • Use your data wrangling and feature creation skills to source, join and transform data from various data sources
  • Interpret insights, apply business context to them, and answer key business questions that drive the top key strategic initiatives for Xero
  • Work closely with other teams across the business including Product, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Customer experience, Strategy and Finance
  • Use your data storytelling skills combined with modern analytic platforms to visualise insights by creating interactive dashboards and informative presentations
  • Help with our journey to deliver best practice behavioural analytics, and build our predictive and experimentation capability
  • Add to our team’s community of analysts, by contributing and adhering to and engaging with our ways of working and standards
  • What you need to be successful in this role:

  • You'll have strong data literacy skills earned through a mixture of experience with data, ideally from a commercial or product setting
  • Ability to tackle unfamiliar domains and work with complex and diverse datasets
  • Comfortable working with large datasets - using SQL for data extraction, manipulation and analysis
  • Hands on experience with Python or R is ideal for this role
  • You’ll be experienced with delivering analytics in the form of visualisations and interactive dashboards, although a specific tool or software isn’t critical
  • You probably have a qualification and/or strong experience in applying statistics, mathematics, analytics to solve problems
  • You’ll be eager to gain the business context to help inform your approach to the analytical activities, and solve customer problems alongside your stakeholders
  • Most importantly, you will be able to break down complex data and deliver meaningful, actionable insights to stakeholders in a clear and digestible way
  • You do not need to already have this full list of skills and experience to be considered for this role. We want to find the right person to join our team who is passionate about data and developing their skills.
