About the opportunity:

As we continue to grow and expand, we are seeking a Product Designer with a Mobile focus to join our Melbourne team. We see product designers as a triple threat who bring research, UX & UI thinking, and application to the team and work. The work will mostly revolve around Openpay’s Mobile Native Apps (iOS & Android) and look at how we can create a market-leading experience in that space for our consumers.

Our ideal candidate will have a collaborative working style as you will be working closely with Researchers, Engineers, and Product Managers on a variety of interesting design challenges. We are empathetic to our customers and have a real passion to create products that truly delight them and we hope you do too. Know the in’s and out’s of mobile design, existing design patterns for iOS & Android.

What you'll be doing :

  • Conduct basic UX research activities such as; competitor analysis, surveys, desktop research, etc.
  • Iterate on ideas and build clickable prototypes that can be used for internal reviews and user tests 
  • Develop the final look and feel of these products 
  • Work closely with engineers throughout the development & implementation stage to ensure a high level of quality in the final product 
  • Work together with the wider design team to build a consistent UI and experience across the whole customer journey.
  • Help shape the design culture at Openpay that will ultimately define every interaction customers have with our products and services 

What you'll need:

  • Conduct Co-Design and collaborative workshops – workshop facilitation
  • A strong understanding of interaction design, visual design, and user experience (+4 years of experience) 
  • Designed for mobile Apps (iOS and Android)
  • Participated in design review and peer critique session
  • The ability to articulate design, design decisions, and explain your ideas to other designers, engineers, product managers, stakeholders, and its value to the customer
  • Create design artefacts such as; user journey maps, experience maps, task analysis, wireframes, and interactive prototypes to articulate proposed solutions. (Adobe toolset)
