If you have experience with customer platforms and want to make a difference for a growing company that focuses on modular architectures and is supported by strong engineering teams, then this is the place for you. You will also have the opportunity to define a roadmap for Public Cloud adoption within the Customer domain.

About the role
The Solution Architect (SA) role is a Product Technology-level role involved in planning and defining a roadmap and the tactics to deliver strategic goals. The SA focuses on understanding, defining and communicating system behaviour through principles and solution modelling. As the SA for the Customer domain you will be driving architectural integrity and consistency of the services that the domain develops to support Tyro’s Customer roadmap. You will operate across multiple delivery teams and in some circumstances across domains and/or departments where dependencies are identified.

Tyro is committed to a cloud-native technology strategy so you will be instrumental in supporting the Customer delivery teams as they deploy new workloads to our AWS environment. Tyro also makes use of Salesforce to support broader Customer Service, Sales and Marketing capabilities. You will be supporting the delivery teams by defining a pragmatic roadmap for the build and integration of systems across a hybrid landscape of bespoke and platform-based capabilities.

A sound knowledge of AWS/Public Cloud Compliance tools and APRA regulations is a must and will help you guide the Product team as they prioritise outcomes and plan work to maximise delivery in a strategic manner.

What you'll be doing

  • Engaging with various stakeholders across the organisation and external parties
  • Helping the teams with technical solution aspects (solution architecture design, best practices, technology selection, proof of concept, implementation etc.) to take advantage of the benefits provided by Tyro’s cloud-hosted container platform, AWS native services and a cloud-based customer platform
  • Ensuring alignment with Tyro's Engineering and Architectural Principles
  • Coordinating ongoing technical activities and dependency analysis
  • Assisting with formalising business cases and other documentation artefacts
  • Balancing architectural concerns of the domain with the concerns of the enterprise
  • Acting as glue to bring together the various parties
  • Identifying milestones/requirements as part of a roadmap (architectural as well as business value)
  • Identifying skill gaps and fill them (either by up-skilling existing staff or identifying where hiring new staff is required)
  • Contributing to Business Architecture design including process definition and system ownership decisions
  • Ensuring all regulatory and compliance requirements are met
  • To be considered for this role you will be expected to possess:

  • Extensive work experience in a similar environment as an experienced technology leader
  • Experience working in financial services or other domain with critical performance and regulatory criteria
  • Experience with APRA standards and steps required to be compliant with Material Outsourcing, Business Continuity, Information Security, etc.
  • Experience with customer related compliance requirements (e.g. ACMA, Spam Act, Do Not Call Register, Complaints Management, Anti-Hawking etc.)
  • Experience working with customer management platforms (e.g. Salesforce) and customer onboarding platforms (e.g. Avoka)
  • Experience working with distributed systems and microservice architectures
  • Experience working with a public cloud provider (AWS) and developing cloud-native services
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver incrementally towards a strategic goal
  • Outstanding all-round communication skills
  • A passion for designing and creating quality software
  • The ability to see how parts interact with the whole ("big picture" thinking)
  • Knowledge of IT governance and operations
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills – collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may understand
  • Technical planning and organisational skills
  • Time management and prioritisation
