We have an exciting opportunity for someone special to join our growing Finance Team as a Senior Financial Accountant. The role offers a good range of technical accounting responsibilities together with commercial decision making to really make an impact and difference to our business. In this role you will take responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function while supporting cross-functional initiatives to further Brosa’s growth as a leading online furniture retailer.

Under the guidance of the Financial Controller, the primary objective of the role is to ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording and verifying transactions and deliver timely, accurate, and compliant statutory financial reporting.

You will provide support to the operational teams to better understand cost drivers and be responsible for monthly reporting & analysis. You will provide general support to the operational managers in terms of budgeting and forecasting and understanding of cost drivers, and be responsible for divisional reporting and analysis.

As a Senior Financial Accountant at Brosa, you’ll get to:

  • Set up, maintain, and oversee the day-to-day accounting function, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Ensure the company’s financial accounts are compliant with GAAP and AASB requirements.
  • Oversee payroll calculation and payments.
  • Prepare and post accruals, depreciation/amortisation, and other journals.
  • Undertake month-end processes including posting general ledger journals and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare period-end reports for internal management use.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls across functional responsibilities.
  • Conduct variance analysis to budget and identify key drivers.
  • Proactively assist the Financial Controller in financial and accounting-related projects to drive efficiencies and value across the business.
  • Partner with operational managers to identify operational cost efficiencies and growth opportunities.

What you bring to the table

  • Over five years’ post qualification experience in accounting roles in corporate or Big 4 accounting firms.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics or related field.
  • CA or CPA qualifications.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of GAAP reporting and AASB accounting standards
  • Advanced skills in Excel.
  • Sound knowledge of internal control mechanisms and processes
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Confident to question if something does not look right.
  • Outstanding organisational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to meet business-critical deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, ability to multitask, work independently to prioritise tasks.
  • Experience in retail and e-commerce is highly desirable.
