Your responsibility is to ensure that Tyro’s infrastructure is up and available for internal and external customers. You do this through designing, deploying, monitoring, maintaining, patching, and improving Tyro’s compute, storage, and networking infrastructure both physical and virtual.
You are the subject matter expert in anything infrastructure. You breathe and live infrastructure, and as the owner of the production environment your success is judged by how closely you maintain our 99.99% uptime SLO.

What you will be doing

  • Be the subject matter expert and point of escalation for Tyro's datacentre compute, backup, and storage platforms.
  • Lead the design, implementation, maintenance and regular patching of compute, storage, and network infrastructure in 24/7 production data centres.
  • Respond to and own system alerts, prioritising and resolving production incidents to restore service.
  • Take a rotating pager for after-hours escalation (one week a month or less).
  • Be a technical and project leader on process and infrastructure improvements.
  • Constantly learn, deploy, and support modern technologies and practices (containerised workloads, infrastructure as code / automation, cloud deployments, etc)
  • Help us achieve operational excellence.
  • Must Haves

  • You are a good communicator. Cross-team collaboration is a large part of the job.
  • You are an autonomous worker with project delivery experience from design to completion.
  • Expertise in virtualisation technologies, specifically VMware vSphere, as well as being well versed in PowerCLI.
  • Network experience.
  • Experience with storage technology.
  • Experience in FC switch maintenance and operation.
  • Data Center technologies (cross connects installation, rack and stack, server maintenance).
  • Desirables

  • Linux administration experience.
  • Load balancer technologies, e.g., F5 LTM and GTM.
  • You have experience automating tasks and infrastructure as code.
  • Time series monitoring software experience (Influx DB, Prometheus, Grafana, Telegraf, etc) and infrastructure monitoring software (PRTG, scrutinizer).
  • Expertise in storage defined networking, e.g. NSX.
  • Exposure to AWS (Amazon Web Services) connectivity (public/private direct connect, virtual circuits, VPG, DCG, BYOIP).
  • Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced VMware knowledge (VCP-DCV, VCP-NV).
  • Active CCNP Routing and Switching qualification.
  • Advanced Linux knowledge (RHCA or above) is highly regarded.
