We are looking for a Head of Commercial Trade to join our team on a 8 month Maternity cover contract.

Within this role you will be responsible for defining the promotional and pricing (mark down) strategy for the business built on insights & data-based analyses that support driving sustainable and profitable growth for the business. International, in market, owned and reactive promotional trade promotional activity all fall under the role and provide an opportunity to attract and turn customers into fans of THE ICONIC. This role has two direct reports and works directly with the Planning Director, Planning Managers, Category Management and Marketing teams on a daily basis. 

What’s involved…

  • Set the promotional and pricing (mark down) strategy for the business to ensure we achieve business objectives.
  • Review and react to daily/weekly business performance based on demand, sales, margin & digital metrics for THE ICONIC at group, brand and category level and make action recommendations to the Executive team.
  • Lead the cross functional trade task force team to that build and execute trade strategies for all international, in market, owned and reactive promotional events.
  • Highly analytical and runs regular promotional effectiveness and competitor analysis.
  • Deep understanding of company financials, the levers that drive them and when and where to implement them. 
  • Excellent understanding of financial analyses and proficient in building them. 
  • Work with our Product and Tech teams to identify and prioritise tech enhancements to drive trade performance   
  • Ability to take complex trade topics and translating them for audiences to easily digest is part of your day to day.

About you… 

  • You are highly organised and efficient at managing and prioritising multiple tasks 
  • You have great “people skills” and are comfortable working with a wide-range of people across the organisation
  • Degree or MBA qualifications in relevant tertiary discipline
  • Experience in building commercial strategies and plans
  • Strong retail, commercial or e-commerce experience, ideally having worked closely with major fashion retailers in Australia and/or abroad in the last 5-10 years.
  • Advanced financial and analytical abilities.
  • Proven ability to lead, support and coach high-performing cross functional teams
  • A strong team player who embodies our ICONIC Principles
