FloodMapp is an early stage startup looking to expand our team to scale our product to access opportunities across the Australian and US markets.

Flooding is the costliest natural disaster, causing billions in damage and taking thousands of lives across the globe every single year. We have an opportunity to help hundreds of thousands of people around the world protect their families and their valuables in the event of flooding. FloodMapp offers real-time flood mapping. We work with large organizations like insurers, utilities, and energy companies, to improve safety and reduce flood related losses.

As our Data scientist, you’ll be an instrumental member of FloodMapp’s growing development team. You will help to build and manage our growing backend and database systems as well as helping to guide the direction of our product. This role requires thoughtfulness with a bias towards taking action and assuming responsibility.

Who we are looking for:

The role will balance data ingestion, developing processing and cleaning algorithms, and developing production-level ML and Deep Learning Models. Many of the projects you’ll be tackling are R&D focused, so a focus on scientific rigor is necessary. Your work will have a deep and meaningful impact on a large scale. The models you will help develop could end up saving lives.

You don’t need to have a specific background, however you should have depth and experience with python and its associated scientific libraries. There will also be a good bit of agility required in the highly dynamic startup environment, so you should be comfortable with new application development and rapid problem-solving. More than experience, we’re looking for someone passionate about solving very real and very serious problems at scale.
