Reporting to the Director of R&D, our Subsea Project Manager is responsible for managing and leading complex robotics and instrumentation projects involving multi-disciplinary teams with a strong high tech quotient in the subsea industry.
This role will suit a technically-minded individual with a strong interest in project management, robotics, autonomy, advanced manufacturing or sensors who enjoys being close to the technology, and keeping design teams well-organised and focused on the right priorities.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Lead multidisciplinary project teams with diverse skill sets, including hardware, software, firmware and manufacturing engineering disciplinesManage time, cost and scope of R&D projects to ensure their successful completion, including the transition to manufacturing. These will primarily be new product development projects as per roadmap, but there will be a mix of internal projects aimed at sustaining and manufacturing improvement. Manage stakeholder expectations and hold the team accountable for project goals, especially when working with the Manufacturing and Product teams.Track project and team performance against schedules at high frequency, ensuring that progress is accurately monitored and visible.Regular and concise project progress reporting in line with project phaseHelp improve and document processes and procedures used by the Subsea R&D team.Create and drive execution of short and long term project plans in alignment with project goals and requirements.Identify and manage resource requirements and usage to enable delivery of concurrent project outcomes.Identify and monitor appropriate mitigations for project risks.
Tertiary engineering qualification (Bachelor degree or higher), with a major in Mechatronics/Electronics/Software/Computer Systems/Software or similar. Regardless of major, you must have a strong multidisciplinary background.
5-10+ years relevant experience in a project or team management role, ideally one with both hardware and software elements.Experience with advanced manufacturing methods will be well regardedExperience with marine survey instrumentation or subsea robotics (ROV/AUV) will be well regarded
Strong communication skills (written and verbal), negotiation and interpersonal skills to stay on top of a fast-moving design team. Able to influence the team in positive directions that are aligned with business goals.
