Who we are looking for

We are looking for a first-class in-house commercial lawyer to join the FrankieOne team, based in Australia. The successful candidate will provide legal support, advice and manage a variety of legal matters associated with executing the FrankieOne strategy both in Australia and as we expand globally.

You will be the first member of our in-house counsel and will be influential in building a team that spans the globe. You’ll need to have strong experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements. Ideally, you’ll have experience working in a company with new products and legal issues that are faced by a fast-growing technology company.


You have

Ideally, 3-6PQE legal experience in a well-regarded commercial law firm or in-house team (bonus points for start-up and/or technology exposure)
Strong commercial law experience, with a focus on drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements
Qualified to practice law in Australia
The ability to manage competing priorities and time pressure, and to operate with a high level of autonomy
A desire to work and ability to perform in a fast-paced, energetic, high growth and dynamic environment.
The ability to work independently and in a team, requiring collaboration with all levels of employees
Familiarity working with legal document management systems and platforms
Have a working knowledge of intellectual property and data/privacy law.


You will

Be drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide array of legal documents, including commercial contracts, MSA services agreements etc. with FrankieOne’s customers, partners and suppliers
Researching legal and compliance issues in existing and new markets
Early identification, advice, and suggested resolution of legal and compliance risk
Supporting our compliance obligations in Australia and abroad around data privacy and protection
Working with other functions to support FrankieOne’s business, including on new policies for internal initiatives, and public-facing policies;
Working with colleagues and sharing knowledge;
Providing advice to various teams across FrankieOne, including Sales, Marketing, Growth and Product
Supporting the roll out of innovative fintech initiatives.
Supporting and enabling domestic and international growth.

What success looks like

In your first month, we will give you the full induction so that you understand the company culture and meet all of your cross-functional partners. We will ensure that you have all the tools that you need to be successful. You will spend time working with Mark, the CFO to get a full understanding of the role, and Simon, the CEO so that you have a full understanding of FrankieOne’s mission and vision. Day-to-day you will work closely with Mark (CFO) and Warren (COO) on the key deliverables.

In month two, you will be entrenched in reviewing commercial agreements for our customers and partners, while beginning to map out the key requirements of the FrankieOne legal and compliance function. You will be engaging with key stakeholders across the business and working with external counsel on more complex matters.

By month three you will be super comfortable with the team and have a thorough understanding of the key demands and legal requirements of the business. You will work closely with all key stakeholders in the business and be an integral part of the team for commercial, legal and compliance matters.


The team

You will be reporting to Mark Powell, FrankieOne’s CFO. Mark joined FrankieOne as the first employee and has worn many hats as the company has grown over the last 2 years. Before joining, Mark spent 11 years in investment banking roles in Sydney and New York, and brings a breadth of experience across finance, operations and leadership roles.

Logistics

The full-time role will be based in our Sydney or Melbourne office. As mentioned above, we have a flexible work-from-home policy and absence lockdown, the teams are in the office on Wednesdays and Fridays so we can maintain our vibrant office culture and use these days for team collaboration/problem-solving.
Our interview process will involve a series of interviews with the senior management team at FrankieOne.
