Shippit is a powerful technology engine that is revolutionising how the world sends anything, to anyone, located anywhere. Logistics infrastructure is a sophisticated beast, and we’re not only improving the experience for everyone involved, we’re impacting the planet in a positive manner. Our deliveries are already 100% Carbon Neutral. While Australian founded, we’re truly global in our approach and have the benefit of being a free moving startup yet with the security of impacting a growing industry that needs some love and attention.

The technology team at Shippit lives and breathes by one core value:  ‘We make good sh*#’. From deploying to new geographies to building next-generation products, and taking the microservices journey, there’s no better time to join a vibrating team already strong of several world-class software engineers.

As a Lead Engineer, you are responsible for leading a squad of 4 to 8 engineers, taking ownership of key product features through all the phases of the software development cycle, working alongside one of our Product Managers.

You’ll have an excellent working knowledge of most aspects of software development, from designing, coding, testing to DevOps, and be proficient in at least two of these domains.

You will be comfortable working side by side with product managers, designers, and other internal teams, taking decisions together in order to quickly deliver valuable working software to Shippit customers.

You’ll also take an active part in our journey towards micro-services, working alongside our architect and infrastructure leads to deploy our new features outside of our Rails monolith.

To succeed in this role you will be agile and retrospective, and not afraid to identify what we’re doing wrong so we can fix it, and what we're doing right so we can make it even better.

The Lead Engineer participates in all phases of the software development cycle, including analysis, design, development, debugging, testing, and deployments.
