The Role
As an Engineering Manager for Web, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and deployment of our global Zip website, integrating product search and discovery to drive user acquisition at scale. To support the rollout of our global website, you will be tasked with managing a team of senior engineers, plan and coordinate engineering projects involving many departments to deliver on a global scale. Further you will be required to develop personal growth opportunities, communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
As part of the Web squad, you will find support in your Senior Product Manager and design lead to drive a culture of data-driven design and decisioning.
Your years of experience in managing frontend development, along with your aptitude at getting things done will help you excel in this challenging, yet rewarding and fast-paced environment. 

What you will do:

  • Establishes strategic goals by gathering pertinent business and operations information
  • Arrange, encourage and run regularly check-ins with engineers in your team
  • Track progress of each engineer in the team
  • Plan and coordinate engineering projects
  • Keep the bigger picture in mind, planning new/exciting features and running daily stand-ups
  • Gain holistic understanding of the whole system, CMS and teams
  • Feel responsible for what you do - strong sense of ownership: You build it, you test it, you run it, you deploy it and you support it. 
  • Work in a fast-paced environment where priority changes occur often - be agile while hiking around waterfalls. 
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Work in a team with a "customer first" and “team first” mentality

  • To help us level up, you'll ideally have:

  • Knowledge and experience in business, supervision, and management
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a department and department staff members.
  • Excellent organizational management skills.
  • Bonus points for:

  • Past experience in startup environments as a founder or a key employee, such as CTO, Engineering Manager or Tech Lead.
  • Working on search engine frontend with a focus on SEO.
