Software Developer Who Tests at Phocas

Information Technology and Services, Information Technology, Full-time, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand engineering full-time
Description
Posted 1 months ago

Organically funded, we have grown from a small startup, building data and analytics products in the UK in 2001 to over 180 people and 6 offices across the world, with headquarters in Sydney, Australia.

Phocas isn’t just loved by our customers. We also have some of the happiest employees going around! In fact, Phocas ranks #1 in G2 Crowd, has a 4.9/5 rating on Glassdoor, and appears in Deloitte's Fast 50, and in 2019 Phocas won the Culture Transformation Award from Human Synergistics in recognition of our constructive and positive culture.

Earlier this year, augmenting our Orange, NSW location. we set up an additional Product and Development centre in Christchurch to further our mission – to take the Phocas DNA that has built groundbreaking and widely adopted Data and Analytics products across ANZ, Europe and the United States and build the next generation of complementary products to take us to the next level.

To do this, we’ve built a world-class team of 19 (so far – with ambitious growth plans this and next year in both locations) with an R&D focus that is close to launching its’ first product. Built with a brand new serverless tech stack we have also sought to redefine what a world-class product team looks like.

This is NOT a testing role: We are looking for a software engineer that is tired of launching buggy products, where every step forward is dogged by errors and backlog tickets. The ideal person for this role will be one who daily feels “there must be a better way, I’d build it if I had time and resources”.

In this role, you’ll have that time and those resources. In fact, we’ll pay you well to do it.

You’ll be looking at the daily problems your fellow software engineers in New Zealand, the UK and Australia encounter and automating solutions for them. Another key part of the role is you will be the educator on quality practices: researching, trying, breaking and introducing new tooling and practices – building them if they don’t exist to your satisfaction already.

Requirements

Your CV, online profile or portfolio will show:

  • A history of developing software products in modern web and UI orientated languages and frameworks
  • A passionate desire to bring those skills to improving the way we deliver quality in our products
  • An empathetic approach to communication
  • Fantastic attention to detail, to the point where you will mention the only word that is a colour in the text of this ad in the “introduce yourself” box provided
  • A sense of fun and a genuine desire to work with people from all backgrounds daily
  • A real human being who can be from any background, identity, religion, gender, sexuality or planet

You’ll note we are not using years of experience or specific technologies in this advert. We are open to teaching and providing an environment where you can develop your skills.

Sadly due to current global pandemic travel restrictions, we can only consider those with established working rights for New Zealand or Australia
