Our business is built on receiving data, generating data and synthesizing data into information. We’re embarking on our next phase of growth that includes a significant new depth of focus on using data for multiple purposes and in multiple ways: from ML-powered products to platform business models and open data partnerships.
What you'll do
Build strong partnerships across the organisation and connect the underlying themes across our Platform strategy and global Open Data initiatives with our Architecture, Science, Engineering, Security, Risk, Legal and Regulatory practicesPartner with our Science, Engineering, Product and Strategy teams to develop commercial evaluation and prioritisation methods for machine-learning product development Use your understanding of data supply chains and the complexities of manufacturing and distributing data-driven products to assess trade-offs and recommend courses of action Develop structured methods for evaluating the total cost of ownership for different types of data products. Work with our Partnerships, GTM and Strategy teams to embed these methods, and with the Architecture and Engineering teams to refine them as our maturity growsCreate and embed decision-making frameworks to assess the commercial value of data in our products and partnerships, in support of Xero’s vision to be the most trusted and insightful small business platform Partner with our AI & Data Evangelism function to drive a range of education and process changes to make it easy for everyone to use these common frameworks to evaluate data-use opportunities at speed and scale Partner with our corporate development team to create methods for evaluation of the data assets and capabilities of potential acquisitionsSupport commercial negotiations and provide inputs into commercial playbooks, propositions and proposal templatesRemain up to date with relevant technology and policy changes and trends and continually grow a knowledge of how they may impact XeroRepresent Xero at external events to raise awareness of the work we do and the career opportunities we offer including acting as a public advocate for Xero’s data strategy Build and develop a high-performing team focused on developing and implementing pragmatic advice around sustainable, commercial and ethical data use
What you'll bring with you
Track record of creating and implementing pragmatic data strategies ideally including one or more of platform, ecosystem, open data or machine-learning strategiesBuilding business cases and evaluation frameworks for data-driven products through commercial, ethical and technical sustainability lenses Driving change in dynamic, complex environments with multiple competing priorities Bringing structure to ambiguity and synthesising complex topics for multiple stakeholder groups Proven experience facilitating discussions between technical and non-technical audiences at all levels Building high performing teamsFamiliarity with relevant regulatory and certification frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27001/SOC2, and Open data/open banking regimesConsulting and/or experience within a SaaS environment would be highly advantageousA pragmatic and commercial mindset to assess trade-offs and make recommendations in context of our strategy and our valuesDeep understanding of the concepts of data supply chains and the complexities of manufacturing and distributing data-driven products
