Currently underway! As a global fintech company, Openpay are defining the next generation of payments. We believe people and businesses should have freedom and flexibility in how they pay with no hidden catches. In doing so we’re changing the way people pay, for the better, and we’d love you to join us in our mission. As an established Australian business, we’re continuing to supercharge our growth by turning the world, Amber. That’s right, “Aussie Amber” (our Marketing Team nailed that one!) This Amberfication is led by in-store, mobile app and on-line payments.

About the opportunity:

We are looking for an Engineering Team Lead (Mobile) to join our rapidly growing engineering organisation. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will provide technical leadership to your team on projects across our payment platform.

In this role, you will be leading a team of iOS and Android mobile engineers to create a mobile experience for our consumers. Openpay’s mobile apps are central to servicing consumers and are a key part of the in-store purchasing solution giving you plenty of scope to improve the Openpay experience and make a large impact. Ideally, you will have the ability to make a hands-on contribution to the mobile app codebase, having come from a background in iOS or Android development.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with Product Managers and Product Owners to develop software solutions and features on our roadmap
  • Providing technical leadership to team members to ensure products and solutions are engineered with the right architectural standards and development practices
  • Meeting 1-1 with team members on a regular basis to ensure they have what they need to perform effectively
  • Engaging in team leadership forums to discuss the management and growth of staff
  • Reviewing code to ensure it meets quality and security standards
  • Working with QA Engineers to manage quality during development
  • Contributing to the adoption of modern engineering practices within the broader engineering team

What you'll need:

  • Strong software development expertise in a variety of domains and languages (one of Swift or Kotlin necessary)
  • Proven and extensive applied knowledge of software development practices
  • Proven technical leadership skills solving problems in complex domains
  • Very established technical writing skills to communicate software designs and practices
  • Excellent communication skills adjusting to varied audiences
  • Proven mentoring and coaching skills to build knowledge and expertise in others

The Team you'll be joining:

We believe every new team member has an opportunity to add to our culture – we’re a vibrant team of Podcasters, Ultra-Marathoners, Weightlifters, Chess Players, Students and more, so we’re looking for people who want to be part of a diverse and ever-changing team.

Being part of a growing Fintech means you’ll need to be a self-starter with high energy, motivation and focus on achieving targets. You’ll crave the unknown and be excited by the opportunity to challenge yourself every day. As we grow, we change, so you’ll be flexible, willing to evolve as our systems and processes do. Always tenacious, you’ll relentlessly pursue opportunities and will be quick to bounce back if you encounter a setback. Most importantly, you’ll be kind - our team appreciates and supports each other (particularly this year) so you’ll want to be part of that team spirit

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!

Short-listed candidates will be advised by telephone. Please note, due to the requirements of this role, candidates must have full working rights in Australia.
