Founded in 2017, Willow is a global technology start-up. The WillowTwin™ is a disruptive IoT/Data SaaS that unlocks the true potential of smart buildings and infrastructure. We are writing a new chapter in human history, with unprecedented resource optimisation and management empowered by data.
For the second year in a row (2020 & 2021), Willow has been ranked in Linked In's Australian "Top 25 Start-ups". You will be joining a team of performance-driven individuals, backed by the most advanced technology the built world has ever seen. We are chartering a new course, Digital First, the Willow Way. Our 'Willow World' is fast-paced, nurturing and collaborative.

Summary of Role:
We are looking for a Principal Product Designer to join our fast-growing Design Team to work across our suite of innovative products. You will own and grow the Willow UI design system and FE framework, designing the latest in 3D modelling, data visualisation and progressive webapp interfaces.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • As a principal designer you exhibit leadership, with strong communication and organisational skills, an art to collaboration, and an appetite to grow towards a vision. As well owning the design system, you will have a broader understanding of the end-to-end product design process from research through prototyping to interface design & usability testing. You understand how to maximise the usability for a platform by working with product teams and developers to achieve your design goals.
  • Things we want you to focus on:
  • Ownership of the cross-product, cross-device UI design system
  • Pixel-perfect digital and graphic design, understanding visual identity
  • Modular organisation of interface components
  • UI component anatomy specification
  • Responsive and dynamic behaviour design
  • Integration/collaboration with FE technology and engineers
  • Steering and scaling of a global FE framework
  • Copywriting design methodology and component usage guidelines
  • Maintenance of the UI to standards and benchmarks, including accessibility standards
  • Ongoing design system resource management
  • Extending UI capability with new designs, components and functionality
  • Create and respond to UI measurements of success
  • The future of UX/UI, e.g., data vis, spatial modelling, notional A.I., speech, etc.
  • Skills & Experience Required:

  • You will have very strong UI and interactive design skills and experience and can demonstrate this in case studies or in an online portfolio. You know that design systems for digital products extend far beyond a web style-guide. You are a high-end graphic designer who also knows the details of how a design may be interpreted with code to create dynamic experiences. You are also across current technological trends and methods in this space.
  • 5+ years of product or UI design experience working across both desktop and mobile
  • High-end graphic design skills; specific Graphic Design training a plus
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, innovative space; preferably another start-up
  • Experience in end-to-end UX/HCD methodology
  • Strong grasp of design thinking and how it complements agile product development
  • Strong skills creating lo-fi and hi-fi prototypes
  • CSS, React or other coding knowledge or skills with in-browser design experience
  • Very high proficiency in Adobe XD and CC (preferred) and/or Figma, Sketch, Flinto, Invision, Miro
  • If you are eager to work in a fast-paced, high growth tech start-up based on collaboration and open communication, then Willow could be the place for you. We at Willow never give up, we work smart, we care about our fellow human beings, and we always put our best foot forward.

Willow is proudly diverse. We work to create an equitable and inclusive experience for candidates and employees, where people from different backgrounds have an opportunity to succeed. Join us in our mission to digitise the built world!
