The role

The Senior Fraud Analyst in our Fraud Team within the Data & Risk function will undertake fraud analytics to enhance Zip’s fraud detection, prevention and reporting capabilities. This role will also work closely with the Fraud Operations Team in the identification of high risk patterns, outliers and emerging fraud threats, in order to continually optimise fraud strategies to protect Zip and its customers.

You’ll also:

- Analyse structured/unstructured data using analytical techniques to optimise real-time application and transaction fraud strategies.
- Support the development of analytical findings through reports, dashboards and data visualisations to monitor for fraud trends and raise the visibility of fraud threats.
- Implement new fraud prevention and detection strategies in Zip systems to mitigate against identified/emerging fraud threats.
- Perform ad-hoc data extracts and analytics to support complex fraud investigations.
- Work closely with the Fraud Operations Team to quickly respond to rapidly evolving threats and implement rule-based analytical solutions.
- Collaborate with other members of the Fraud Analytics team to solve analytical problems.
- Formulate and have input into fraud data requirements as part of new product/feature initiatives in an agile delivery environment.


This is an exciting opportunity for a fraud analytics professional with a passion for data to make their mark at Zip through the development/ongoing delivery of business fraud insights and fraud strategies that will underpin sustainable business growth and support our operational teams in mitigating fraud risk.

To help us level up, you’ll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline (E.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Studies, Economics).
  • 3+ years fraud analytics experience, preferably in retail banking/consumer finance/payments/e-commerce environment, with experience in fraud detection and prevention.
  • Strong exposure to analytical scripting languages, such as SQL, Python, and R.
  • Proficiency with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, ExcelExperience in interrogating, interpreting and manipulating large datasets to deliver  business reporting/insights.
  • Experience in the management of fraud decision systems, including strategy implementation, testing and rule maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of fraud typologies and emerging fraud threats in an e-commerce/card fraud context.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience in mentoring junior fraud analysts.

  • Bonus points for:

  • Hands-on modelling experience and the application of statistical/machine learning/deep learning techniques (E.g. GLMs, XGBOOST, k-means clustering, neural networks, random forests, anomaly detection etc.).
  • Experience using AWS Athena and exposure to tools such as Databricks, Gitlab and Bitbucket.
  • Previous experience with and understanding of graph databases (e.g. Neo4J).
