As Data Product Owner, you will have a deep understanding of the customer’s needs, and will be tasked with collaborating with our Data Engineers to deliver data products for Tyro’s customers and our teams.
 
You will be responsible informing and executing the Data Product team’s roadmap, focusing on exceptional customer experiences and empowering customers to achieve their goals through the data products you deliver. You will also measure the success of the products delivered and return insights from your work to understand where the Data Product team can evolve our strategy to provide greater benefits to our customers.
 
You will report to the Head of Data Product and will be embedded within a team of Data Engineers tasked with building and supporting our Data Products.

As a Data Product Owner, you will be required to do the following:

  • Plan and conduct customer interviews, then synthesise the results for your engineering team and the Head of Data Product.
  • Prioritise customer needs based on Tyro’s ability to satisfy them and the value it will bring to the customer and Tyro.
  • Work with your engineering team to explore prioritised opportunities, and co-design solutions to validate.
  • Be a hands in the creation of prototypes of varying levels of fidelity to test with the customer.
  • Support your engineering team with the delivery of validated solutions, then measuring and reporting on their success.
  • Research and monitor competitor activities and market trends to ensure you have understanding of evolving customer needs and the new capabilities that we could bring to our customers and staff.
  • To be considered for this role you will be expected to possess:

  • 5+ years of experience in a product owner role, preferably in a company that specialises in data products or a high growth tech company.
  • Sufficient facilitation skills to plan and run your own interviews and workshops
  • Experience working in teams practising Agile methods
  • Confidence and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for small and large audiences
  • Professional experience working with data sets and writing SQL statements
  • Professional experience with data visualisation and dashboarding tools (Tableau and Tableau Prep is a plus)
