Koala is rapidly growing, changing, and evolving as a business. This role will act as the lead for all PR & communications in Australia, overseeing all public relations, thought leadership content strategy, external brand communications, industry analyst relations, awards and media relations.

Requirements

Key responsibilities...

  • Build, refine, and own a defined PR strategy that includes content review, input from c-suite, teams across the company, approvals and measurement
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with the leadership team on the creation of a comprehensive integrated communications and thought leadership strategy that resonates with the people we need to reach most.
  • Connecting with the cross functional marketing team to create disruption and talkability with consumers in Australia.
  • Consult and advise company executives, globally, on all matters associated with communications including facilitating media training, and localised communications strategy development.
  • Develop relationships with key internal stakeholders and executives to ensure our communications strategy is represented in all that we do.
  • Assess potential reputational risks and provide proactive solutions for crisis communications and issues management as required.
  • Further develop existing media relations work to generate a more consistent cadence of positively earned media coverage in key outlets, and ensure Koala is valued appropriately in the eyes of customers, internal and external stakeholders and media.
  • Ensure we are building a pipeline of Awards globally to provide social proof for our company, products and sustainability efforts
  • Build a high-performance team and a progressive and collaborative working environment
  • Drive crisis comms management, proactively and as needed

Ideal background…

  • A strong communications executive with minimum 7+ years’ experience leading communications and content teams in fast-paced business environments.
  • Experience launching products for global, world-class brands, and driving campaigns, communications and go-to-market initiatives
  • Demonstrated success leading a broad range of communications teams at the very highest levels—preferably a mix of in-house and agency, as well as publicly-traded companies and start-ups.
  • Proven track record of success for developing, prioritizing and implementing successful technical communication strategies and narrative storytelling.
  • Foundational experience in journalism and media relations.
  • Is someone who is proactive, solutions focused and has an innate desire to challenge the status quo.
