As the Chief People Officer you will deploy cutting edge strategies to attract and retain the best talent for Shippit to double the workforce and expand the geographical footprint. You will ensure the employee experience enables people to do their best work and be part of something bigger than themselves. 

Specifically, we are seeking an inspiring leader who has scaled a People & Culture organisation before and has a strong pedigree in successfully deploying strategic People initiatives across the business. To be successful as a Chief People Officer, you will need to be a visionary leader with a strong background in People strategy & operations.  

Along with the co-founder,  Rob and Will, your key stakeholders will be the Executive team who have come from other Australian high-growth companies and are helping lead the way at Shippit. Our CTO is ex-Atlassian, CFO is ex-Xero and our CRO is ex-ebay. 

Strategic responsibilities:

  • Advisor and executor on the best organisational design for teams and the company to be successful
  • Bring cutting edge thought leadership on people and workplace practices
  • Be a coach to the co-founders on elevating to co-CEO’s
  • Build a talent acquisition strategy including a compelling employee value proposition (EVP)
  • Define the long-term footprint strategy that best supports our strategy
  • Provide input into the company wide strategic plan for a organisational capability perspective as well as the P&C team perspective
  • Be a trusted advisor to the co-founders, Board and Executive team on all people related matters, particularly strategic organisational design
  • Drive cutting-edge retention strategies in a competitive marketplace
  • Build future-proof working practices in a post COVID world
  • Build and execute Shippits framework on Environmental, Social and Governance 
  • Hire and build exceptional leadership capability that sets Shippit apart in the marketplace
  • Handle employee relations matters in an efficient and fair manner
  • Bring the existing values to life across all aspects of the people experience
  • Enhance the culture with alignment to values and company success
  • Own internal communications around people and organisational change
  • Operational & Team Leadership responsibilities:

  • Attract talent in a competitive Australian technology marketplace
  • Market and communicate the Shippit EVP in the most effective ways 
  • Manage the P&C objectives, KPI’s and budget 
  • Enhance the employee experience - both in office and remote 
  • Build on the existing remuneration and benefits package to elevate Shippits EVP
  • Continue to enhance our diverse and inclusive culture
  • Address any new or existing retention issues such as burnout, role clarity, leadership or a lack of cross-functional unity
  • Manage the Sydney, Melbourne and Singapore offices
  • Set the bar in terms of leadership capability and building a high performing team 
  • Inspire and coach the existing high performing P&C team
  • What you will bring:

  • Experience in scaling a high-growth business, ideally on a global scale
  • Exposure to SAAS businesses, ideally in the logistics or retail industry
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Deep expertise in the P&C craft - from strategic to operational 
  • Exceptional communication skills
