About the team:
The Product Insights and Analytics team are responsible for empowering Xero to deliver successful customer outcomes through actionable insights. We support product teams with key information to; understand the current product landscape, inform and motivate product behaviour and shape product strategy.

What is a Product Insights & Analytics Manager at Xero? 
As the Insights and Analytics Manager,  you will play a key role, central to embedding a culture of data literacy within one of Xero’s Product groups. You will be tasked with developing and maintaining a service portfolio through building and advocating for insights and analytics solutions which inform decisions. You’ll do this by developing a strong understanding of customer and business needs & combining this with a first class insights and analytics service to meet those needs. 

Key to this role, you will be responsible for growing and supporting a team of analysts supporting your area of Product, providing leadership and mentoring in growing a cohesive thought-leading team which rapidly delivers value to our stakeholders.

This is a challenging role, with your primary business stakeholders covering multiple product divisions  with key executive and general management relationships to be nurtured across the globe but primarily Melbourne, Auckland  and Wellington.

You are a leader at the intersection of product management, analytics and data. You’ll maintain an environment in which your team can do their best work predictably and sustainably. You’ll make sure the team has all the information they need and the right feedback loops in place to discover and deliver valuable, usable, and buildable outcomes. You’ll help your team learn and improve, making local discoveries global. You’ll look after the health of your team and their products, aiming for resilience. 

What you'll do:

  • Directly manage 6 analysts supporting your portfolio and drive a culture of engagement and improvement, making sure the team understands how they help our business achieve great outcomes
  • Empower your team to build strong relationships, prioritize courageously and drive data-focused product decision making
  • Research and champion new methods and tools to improve your team's capability and ways of working
  • Engage with leaders across all of the product groups your team supports to help build a clear vision and roadmap for across the PIA  portfolio including but not limited to:
  • Be a major contributor to and advocate for driving a culture of data literacy within your product groups and ensuring that future decisions are based on facts
  • Actively participate in the global analytics practice and engage with customer analytics professionals at other companies to share expertise and raise capability
  • What you'll bring:

  • Demonstrated experience building and leading teams who collaborate, communicate and get the right things done
  • Commercial mindset and preferred understanding of SaaS business models
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to interact with different stakeholders, both non-technical and technical
  • 10+ years or more experience in data analytics using or managing teams leveraging R/Python or similar tools
  • Preferred Experience working in an environment where experimentation is a key part of product decision making 
  • Experienced in delivering analytics through data pipelines, exploration, interpretation and presentation in the form of interactive dashboards or slides
