Our robotics engineering team in Perth has grown rapidly over the past 18 months in order to accelerate the development of our next-generation autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) platform. In this role as a Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for designing bespoke components and processes for our subsea robotic platform as well as advancing our existing subsea product range. You will be working on the development of a class-leading AUV to build new capabilities and enter new markets. You will be working on cutting edge in-house acoustics, navigation and robotics to push the industry in new directions.
Become an expert in developing innovative sub-sea products and manufacture processesPerforming research to find solutions to challenging problems not solved in industryDesigning, drafting, manufacturing & testing prototype parts and assembliesProvide creative input into product industrial design (usability, aesthetics & functionality)Provide accurate estimations of time, risk and duration to project leaders, then remain within those constraintsPropose, plan and implement process improvements to increase quality, reduce cost, improve safety and improve efficiency, working directly with manufacturing engineersDesign, fabrication and validation of manufacturing tools, jigs, fixtures, test and measurement equipmentPlan, organise and execute verification plans for products and componentsParticipating in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs & proceduresAbility to perform detailed mechanical design calculations, including modelling, simulation & verification testingOwnership over full project lifecycle for mechanical designs from concept to manufacturing transitionLearn the capabilities of our products and processes so you can further innovationManage work packages and proactively report on scope and schedule risks to project/functional managersWork with a bright motivated team Documenting designs to a high professional standard for manufacturing and prototyping

Have 5+ years in a mechanical design engineering rolesExperience with all stages of the product development cycle, concept development, R&D, design and planningStrong Solidworks skills (primary working tool)Experience with complex mechanisms and design of intricate components is desirableExperience with medical, defense or automotive product design is desirable10+ years experience in engineering role is desirable
