About the position

The Underwriter plays an integral role within a dynamic and vibrant team, supporting our customers by delivering credit/ risk decisions, engaging conversations and a level of customer service that stands out within the financial market.   

We're looking for someone who can understand business financials and can leverage their underwriting experience to provide an engaging funding conversation with our customers and ensuring our business loans are processed efficiently and effectively.

Key responsibilities

• 8am - 7pm coverage, including non-national holidays (alternating roster)
• Liaise with Direct Sales and Partner Sales teams
• Manage the end to end underwriting process for loan applications (within individual credit approval level) 
• Think outside of the box about how credit could be offered based on each individual circumstance
• Communicate outcomes and the decision making rationale to Direct and Partner Sales teams
• Provide recommendations for credit underwriting applications outside individual credit approval level
• Ensure that all funding applications are reviewed in line with all applicable credit criteria and lending policies
• Deliver to all regulatory and legislative requirements
• Meet all Moula risk and compliance requirements 
• Underwriting in accordance with AML/KYC & Privacy Act and all other legislation regarding Business Lending
• Undertake activities in a manner that clearly demonstrates and promotes concern for quality and the commitment to our risk culture through the reduction of inconsistencies, uninformed risk taking and errors in the application of work

About you

• You must have commercial underwriting experience working in a B2B capacity 
• Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
• You will have an in-depth understanding of business lending
• You have strong financial acumen
• You pride yourself on your attention to detail and follow-up
• You have a willingness to develop and continuously improve 
• You have loads of initiative and self-motivation and the ability to work in a fast and ever-changing environment
