Our team is growing rapidly and we’re on the hunt for an innovative and creative Chef – New Product Development (Casual 1-2 days per week) to help us create meal offerings using unique plant-based meat and dairy ingredients to support our food science team and help our company to achieve our big, audacious goals to transform the plant-based and alternative protein sector.  

You Will:  

  • Design and create new dishes using Nourish products by drawing on your experience in cuisines from a range of cultures – with greater depth in Asian cuisine advantageous
  • Prepare and cook Nourish products following own and/or suggested recipes
  • Style and present different dishes and menu combinations for company presentations, media activities and promotions
  • Record recipes in detail and report to Team Lead weekly and when required.
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment in a safe manner and maintain a clean kitchen.
  • Coordinate with the Food lab custodian in purchasing food ingredients, storage, cleaning, organising, and maintaining kitchen and equipment.
  • Travel within Canberra for presentations if required

You have:

  • A relevant Culinary qualification or related degree (Minimum Cert IV Commercial Cookery or equivalent)
  • Practical experience in developing plant and animal based meat and dairy options appealing to vegan, gluten free and general audiences.
  • A skilled eye for enhancing plating presentations and identifying and suggesting flavour combinations
  • Experience in preparing appealing dishes for company presentations, media activities, including social media (desirable but not essential)
  • A full understanding of food preparation and handling regulations and compliance
  • Strong communications skills – fluent in English
  • A great flavour palate and insight into complimentary flavours and ingredients
  • A good appreciation of how different flavours, texture and smell combinations appeal to and enhance individual dish and meal design.
  • Solid food preparation skills offering a range of cooking skills, techniques and cuisines.
