How you’ll make an impact

As Xero embarks on the next phase of our journey to become the leading small business platform globally we need to reconsider the ways in which we work. It is more critical than ever that our People Experience (PX) team is able to deliver on our customer commitments and that our functional resources are clearly aligned to enable our teams.

This role has been created to help Xero’s PX team deliver value across Xero using best practice project and change methodologies, and to help us tackle new operational challenges. The role will help improve PX project leadership, design, delivery and take a lead role on critical projects and improvements.

As a member of the PX Operations team, this role seeks to build operationally excellent and sustainable practices that will enable Xero to scale effectively and to embed a #human and people leader excellence in all that we design, build and deliver.

What you’ll do

  • Understand, articulate and advocate the People Experience strategy and objectives, and develop initiative roadmaps that are aligned with the strategy
  • Contribute to PX business planning and tracking, including OKRs, and if required commercial and vender management
  • Design and deploy innovative ways to communicate and track portfolio and project progress for stakeholders, including the broader PX team
  • Identify, scope and execute projects that align with Xero’s and PX’s priorities
  • Define success metrics for project performance and track these so we can celebrate our success and ensure we put focus into the right areas
  • Manage the ongoing prioritisation of initiatives, ensuring effective resource deployment
  • Ensure best-practice operating rhythm, project management tools and outputs are in place
  • Demonstrate your strength in influence and persuasion to drive action in cross-functional teams without formal reporting lines
  • Build open and collaborative relationships with stakeholders throughout Xero and externally
  • Engage with stakeholders to fully understand, communicate and document processes, workflows, requirements, analyse solutions and scope specific enhancements and features. You’ll provide clear estimates of effort vs value and create a roadmap for our future success
  • Proactively identify, escalate and manage dependencies, risks and issues across your projects
  • Support design and delivery of workshops to align project delivery with our strategy
  • Keep up to date with new methodology and best practice project management tools, identifying opportunities to improve the way we work together
  • Lead programs of work as required, which may include operating model and organisation design, global people programs, system enhancements, PX Mergers and Acquisitions.
  • What you’ll bring with you

  • You will have proven Project Management experience working with project management methodologies and a track record of delivering outcomes ideally within a fast growing, high paced organisation. Your strong communication skills and stakeholder management will have supported you in your ability to work across multiple disciplines and teams in global organisations.
  • Superior relationship management with key stakeholders including the ability to interact with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to influence, build, motivate and manage effective relationships and cohesive cross-functional teams
  • Ownership and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced ambiguous environment
  • Ability to multitask under tight deadlines and handle changing priorities
  • Self-motivation and organisation with superb attention to detail and a proactive can-do attitude
