Xero is a beautiful, easy-to-use platform that helps small businesses and their accounting and bookkeeping advisors grow and thrive.

At Xero, our purpose is to make life better for people in small business, their advisors, and communities around the world. This purpose sits at the centre of everything we do. We support our people to do the best work of their lives so that they can help small businesses succeed through better tools, information and connections. Because when they succeed they make a difference, and when millions of small businesses are making a difference, the world is a more beautiful place.

We are the centre of expertise for data strategy, data architecture, data modelling, machine learning, ethical data usage and artificial intelligence service design. We lead the effort to raise the data and AI literacy levels across Xero and to embed our commitments to responsible data use into culture and practices across our fast-growing organisation.

Our business is built on receiving data, generating data and synthesizing data into information. We’re embarking on our next phase of growth that includes a significant new depth of focus on using data for multiple purposes and in multiple ways: from ML-powered products to platform business models and open data partnerships.

You will collaborate widely across our global business to define, communicate and drive a cohesive strategic approach to data usage that combines A balanced and future-looking approach to data sharing partnerships and data-driven products An industry leading, future-proof handling of ethics and governance A pragmatic understanding of the technical realities involved in building and maintaining intelligent products powered by data

You will build close working relationships with our Customer, GTM, Strategy, Partnership and Ecosystem teams. You’ll build a reputation as someone who brings a point of view that is sound, bold and pragmatic with respect to the viability and implications of data-led opportunities.

You’ll work with these teams and with technical specialists within the Data team to drive robust and mature decision making around using data as a commercial asset. You’ll work to ensure that data commercialisation decisions stay in harmony with our deep commitments to responsible data use and our belief in the primacy of customer consent.

You’ll contribute to the team to both drive the thinking and create practical frameworks that facilitate and unite the implementation of our Business, Customer and Platform strategies in a commercially savvy, ethically sound and sustainable fashion. You’ll ensure these strategies evolve in line with changing regulatory requirements, market pressures, and customer and stakeholder expectations.
