Brighte is looking for an experienced manager to lead, develop and uplift the underwriting standards and capabilities of its credit underwriting team.
The underwriting team evaluate the financial information contained within credit applications to determine if referred regulated and unregulated unsecured loans should be granted. Brighte market leading underwriting SLAs mean that there is a greater focus on the speed to decision than in a more traditional underwriting role.
This role demands frequent engagement with team members overseas and key stakeholders in credit and risk.
What you'll do
Lead a team of Consumer Credit underwriters assessing applications within delegated underwriting authority in accordance with Company policies, procedures, SLAs and commercial risk environment.Manage daily workflow key activities ensuring all SLAs are adhered to.Act as primary point of escalation between sales management and ops/credit department for consumer applications.Provide sound, high quality recommendation to management on complex applications.Assist colleagues through knowledge sharing and coaching of team members in Sydney and overseas.Provide input and feedback regarding credit policies and procedures, increasing the efficiency and accuracy of our processes.Improve current process to help streamline application processing and reduce risk.Implement and monitor first line defence strategies to determine credit and fraud risk.Assist in the development of Brighte’s credit management frameworks.
Who you are
5 years plus experience in lending in either a bank, equipment finance or supply chain finance.Proven experience as a collaborative, solutions-based credit underwriter who can work effectively with sales and key stakeholders.Exposure to all stages of the credit approval process including customer engagement, verification and credit decisioning.Lending delegation experience of more than 3 years.Understanding of relevant regulatory legislation under the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act (2001) (ASIC Act), National Consumer & Credit Protection Act (NCCPA), Competition and Consumer Act, The Anti-Money Laundering, and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act and Privacy Act; andAnalytical skills with the ability to draw sound conclusions.Experience in a leadership role with a passion to identify, coach, engage and develop talent.
