Head of Business Development, Australia at Relectrify
Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing, Business Development, Full-time, Melbourne, Victoria, AustraliaDescription
At Relectrify, we're on a mission to engineer the future of battery energy storage. We are building a disruptive platform that dramatically reduces the cost of storage by unlocking significantly more energy from every battery cell. We want to see a world abundant with clean energy and believe we will make a meaningful contribution.
Our core values fuel and motivate our work:
- Prioritise what matters most: We strive to work with clear objectives and understand why they are the right goals to pursue.
- Think critically: We base our decisions on informed, open-minded evaluations, not on hierarchy or gut feelings.
- Be decisive: We prioritise action and continuously move forward, adapting as new data becomes available.
- Quality and elegance in everything: We put in the effort to distil complexity and make things as clear and impactful as possible.
- Collaborate or fail: We seek to work with those who excel and recognise that partnerships are essential to our success.
- Get jobs done: We focus on the core task – the job to be done – and we aren’t content until we’ve achieved the desired outcome.
We embrace diverse experiences to fuel our collective success, ensuring everyone can do their best work.
If you are looking to make a positive impact in the world of renewable energy by advancing battery technology, come join us. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply — you might just be the perfect fit for our team.
About the Role
Location: The position offers the flexibility of hybrid work between your home and our Melbourne office. Domestic travel will be required from time to time.
Team Background: This is a newly created position responsible for driving our business development (strategy and execution) in the Australian market. Over time, you will build and lead our Australian go-to-market team.
Who we’re looking for: An individual with a deep understanding of renewable asset development who can define, refine and execute our overall go-to-market playbook for maximising the impact that our unique storage platform can have on Australia’s commercial and industrial (C&I) and front-of-meter (FTM) battery energy storage markets.
The successful candidate will have proven success in a similar role, with demonstrated experience in building strategic relationships, developing complex projects, and consistently getting the job done in a competitive market. They should be ready and able to help us build Relectrify’s brand as the future of battery energy storage in Australia.
What you’ll be doing:
- Building a pipeline of sales opportunities for our new BESS product with leading renewable energy developers, power utilities, and large C&I organisations.
- Successfully articulating our unique product and services value proposition during complex technical and commercial procurement processes to win a significant share of these deals against established competitors.
- Building strategic partnerships with established players in the market who can both benefit from and contribute to our success.
- Work closely with Relectrify’s leadership team to ensure that the Australian voice-of-customer is fully considered within our strategy, our business model and our product roadmap.
- Work with our Marketing & Communications team to define, manage, and execute the right marketing plan for Australia (brand building and demand generation).
Requirements
Must-have experience:
Applicants must have full working rights in Australia and be willing to undergo pre-employment background checks (i.e. working rights, criminal history, and employment references).
- Demonstrated experience in utility-scale renewable energy development (ideally in Storage specifically) and/or significant experience in complex C&I energy projects.
- A deep understanding of the practicalities of renewable asset development from the perspective of an asset owner, a developer, a system integrator or an OEM.
- Experience working in a small team where resourcefulness and problem-solving have been paramount (e.g. within startup / scaleup situations, or as part of a satellite team of an overseas firm).
- Proven ability to get jobs done – achieving ambitious objectives, closing complex deals, and a track record of hitting business development targets.
- Proven experience in building strong relationships with C-level stakeholders.
- Strong existing network in the Australian renewable energy sector.
