As an Afterpay Manager, Data Engineering, you’ll be leading a team of Data Engineers, to design, develop and maintain a scalable and easy-to-use Global Data Platform (GDP). The Global Data Platform at Afterpay gets data from 50+ sources and is the foundation for executive decision making, sales enablement, marketing campaigns, fraud monitoring, risk analytics, ML development, financial reporting etc.

-Ensure all Engineers are consistently delivering working software to our expected standards.
-Actively participate in the development and maintenance of Afterpay Engineering standards.
-Technical ownership of the work that your Engineers deliver.
-Effectively balances the quality, speed of the delivery and future scalability.
-Shared responsibility for the architecture of the Global Data Platform.
-Identifies and resolves difficult technical challenges within the team.
-Can create a technical vision for a technical area and a plan to execute it. Ensure team(s) capability and capacity supports short-term objectives.
-Influence & trusted advisor to key senior stakeholders on tactical decisions.
-Proactively supporting your Engineers to achieve their performance and development goals.
-Ensure that Engineers are collaborating closely with our cross-functional teams consisting of analysts, product managers, engineers, and QA in an agile, fast-paced environment.
-Drives a data driven approach by creating and adopting technical measures.

-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
-3+ years of engineering leadership experience in the Data Engineering space.
-10+ years of experience working as a Data Engineer, building and maintaining ETL/Data Warehouse/Data Engineering applications
-Strong architecture design experience/skills for data applications, large scale distributed systems and AWS Cloud.
-Passionate about coaching, people and leader development.
-Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
-Passionate about adding to and growing an organisation’s engineering culture.
-Owning and driving the technical and product vision within the domain you operate in.
