As a Quality Advocate at Tyro you will work across our Engineering tribes to ensure quality is treated as a first-class citizen in the work we do, that we are working to our principle that quality is a whole team responsibility, and that we are continuously improving the quality of what we deliver.

Quality Advocates work with the delivery teams in their tribes to build up their quality skills and practices so they are self-sufficient in terms of the quality of their deliverables.

You will assist the Engineering tribes with defining and understanding what quality means for their deliverables. You will work to improve how we can assess of the quality of what we deliver, so that it can provide input for quality improvement initiatives.

What you'll do

  • Partner with teams to assess their quality practices/maturity and build their quality culture
  • Collaborate with architects to provide a quality perspective in architectural discussions and decisions
  • Identify areas in the tribe that need improvement, allowing for targeted quality improvements
  • Improve awareness of quality within the software delivered
  • Analyse test coverage
  • Create and implement initiatives within the tribe to increase the quality of software delivered
  • Drive the creation of test strategies
  • Coach the tribe in different testing techniques and skills
  • Drive or contribute to tribe- or engineering-wide quality engineering initiatives.
  • What you'll need

  • Experience in quality coaching to delivery teams
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills - asking good questions, challenges assumptions and challenge existing ideas and viewpoints
  • System-thinking skills to understand the big picture or holistic view
  • Influencing skills to drive quality initiatives and have difficult conversations to make progress
  • Experience with testing in a cloud-based environment, knowledge of AWS infrastructure
  • Experience in testing Microservices
  • Knowledge of test automation and continuous delivery models
  • Test automation with knowledge in Java and Javascript language
  • Knowledge of functional and non-functional testing
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how they relate to testing at different stages of the pipeline
  • Knowledge of testing frameworks and methodologies or new ways to get faster feedback and gain confidence in the quality of our products.
