About the role

By joining Lumary as a General Counsel, you will be part of an awesome start-up environment and work in an ecosystem of people who like to challenge themselves everyday. As a General Counsel at Lumary you will be an in - house generalist, working closely with the business, providing expert operational and strategic legal advice and support on a broad range of legal matters.

We don’t wait for others to tell us what to do, we sense what needs to get done and we proactively take action because we care about the impact our work has on others individually and as a team. We have included an example of what a day in the life may look like below.

A day in the life

  • You will be the key point of contact to provide expert legal advice to the business as and when required on a broad range of legal issues
  • You will be drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, and also provide expert advice to the business on a wide range of commercial agreements - client license, service agreements, key partner agreements and other contracts
  • You will be the point of contact for interactions with external lawyers when advice is required to be sourced externally and would also manage the budget for this
  • You will be the subject matter expert for providing strategic advice to identify, assess, manage and help mitigate legal risk affecting Lumary
  • Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with Lumary’s policies and procedures, particularly in the areas of workplace health and safety, security management, equal employment opportunity, workplace harassment, bullying and discrimination
  • Providing compliance research and related advice as needed and assist in the areas of corporate governance
  • If you’re working from the office, play a game of pool or NBA Jam, or if you’re at home, take a coffee break and join in the celebrations and wish a happy birthday or milestones with the team on slack

  • You are able to work independently and self manage workloads and projects
  • You have strong technical legal skills and knowledge, drafting and negotiation skills
  • A proven ability to demonstrate sound high level judgement, taking a pragmatic approach whilst understanding the context of the environment an organisation works within
  • You have been admitted to practice in Australia and hold a current practising certificate
  • Minimum 4-7 years post admission experience in general commercial/contract law
