We are looking for a Mechatronic / Mechanical Engineer to join our New Product Introduction team focussing on mechanical and control system engineering. You will be working with a highly skilled team of Mechatronic Engineers building our subsea robotics and navigation products.

Main duties/Responsibilities:

  • To become an expert in our bespoke manufacturing processes that build our subsea robotics and navigation products
  • Provide creative input into product industrial design (usability, aesthetics & functionality)
  • Design, fabrication and validation of manufacturing tools, jigs, fixtures, test and measurement equipment
  • Participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs & procedures
  • Perform mechanical design calculations, including modelling, simulation & verification testing
  • Work closely with control systems engineers to automate and scale processes and machines
  • Work with a bright motivated team
  • Required Skills & Experience:

  • Degree qualified in Mechatronic or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in mechatronic or mechanical design engineer role
  • Well practiced at producing drawings, specifications and file packs for fabrication by external suppliers
  • Tool making requirements - Jigs/ fixtures/ moulds
  • Working with or design of control systems - pneumatics, motors, pumps, electrical troubleshooting, commissioning
  • Strong Solidworks skills (primary working tool) with thorough knowledge of design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA)
  • Proactive in creating concise written documentation of processes and designs
  • Practical, hands-on mentality to work, and comfortable building and assembling prototypes
  • Strategic problem solving and the ability to produce succinct explanations with clear methodology
  • Comfortable deep diving into technical topics and learning new skills to solve new problems
  • Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in a competition environment project (FSAE, RoboCup etc)
  • Experience in production environments with the ability to envisage and support a more streamlined and efficient approach
  • Held assembly and test engineering roles for volume manufacturers
  • Working in a production environment with stringent quality standards such as medical or automotive components
  • Previously played a key role in delivering a product from prototype to volume production
  • Manual fabrication and machining
  • Composites and moulding, 3D printing or CNC Trade qualifications
  • A keen personal interest in robotics and AI
